Hi Davidgary,

I'm noob to IT stuff and have just registered to help my son to help him to revert his BiteSMS to 2.7 as he had unknowingly upgraded it to 3.1.
Being followed the thread and solution offered by you and another forumer. I still do not understand all the terms mentioned in the link. Care to elaborate, possible step by step to what a NOOB should do if I were to use Cydia to perform the task. Hope u can help and understand what I'm try to write.

Once again, thanks in advance. Cheers

Hi Hanxz,

I read this steps by Baretta thr the link:
--------------------------------------------------
deb file for bitesms 2.7

biteSMS.deb

To install on your iPhone :

1. SFTP or SCP your deb file into /tmp
2. SSH into your iPhone with Terminal and type:
dpkg -i /tmp/biteSMS.deb
3. If biteSMS icon not appear, install gUIcache from cydia (u can uninstall later if u dont want this apps)
3. Kawtim
------------------------------------------------------
I don't quite understand what did you mean by check my steps again?
Next u mentioned that install mobile terminal and guicache, are these 2 programs can be found in Cydia and it has to install inside d iphone?
U mentioned file name and etc, may I know what is all these?

As I'm a noob and nut to all these, would appreciate if you treat me like a baby, ie step by step. Thanks for your understanding n being patient to me. Waiting to receive your posting.

Cheers

Hi Davidgary, will try shortly and let's cross my fingers. After deliberate reading and help to ans my queries

Before doing all these things, I've not sync my iphone with my office PC, is that critical?

1) Download the deb file via the link. --- To my PC? I think yes?
2) Download MobileTerminal from Cydia -- To iphone, right?
3) Download DiskAid http://www.digidna.net/diskaid/ - to where? To my PC? done that.
4) Launch DiskAid and select root media(bottom left of DiskAid application) - launch at where? to PC too? Looks like I need to connect my iphone to my PC in order to "select root media'?
5) Use Copy to Device and upload the deb file to /var/root/ - in iphone as well? copy from PC to iphone? Need to go home to take the USB cable
6) Use Mobile Terminal via iPhone - what is this Mobile Terminal? Also in DisAid? Understood this part.

As for the rest instrunctions, I'm still reading it.... doh.gif

1) Delete the deb file in media by using delete from device option.

2) There's 2 option to select from the left end menu. One is media folder and the other is root folder. Select Root. Select Go Ahead to access root partition.

3) You'll will see the var folder. Click on var and then select the root folder. Use copy to Device to place the deb file.

4) Launch Mobile terminal and enter the codes.

Hi there,

Finally got it downgraded to 2.7. Many thanks to all of you. The problem was that I did not type in the exactly file name of the downloaded Bitesms file to my iphone when typing "dkpg -i ....". Will try another set tomorrow.

In fact, I noticed that my colleague's set that the Bitesms app is installed at "stack" "Application" - strange? Anyway, he got his set downgraded as well.

Once again, a big thank you to Davidgary and others.

Cheers
