i have a 3 bedroom apartment...
should i go for 3 units of single split type or a multi split that supports 3 a/c
what are the pros n cons for both...
and in terms of power consumption...will it be more economical to go with the multi split?
thanks in advance for any comments

i dun really think thatg the multi split is good enough becuase it might strain the motor system if u use for too long and also power consumption is quite high right.. think it won't be as efficient as the split unit smile.gif
if let's say u want to service the motor unit, then u cannot use the air-conds at the same time right?

hmm..i see ur reason...if one compressor breaks down, i'll have no air con..
multi split is good when outdoor space is limited..is that the only pros?

actually both got advantage & disadvantage

single split
Advantage: a) when any 1 break down, 2 units still can use.
b) save cost. if change brand new outdoor, it just cost 1 outdoor unit, not 3.

disadvantage: a) place too limited. because need put 3 units at the same time. so it may put outside window & may difficult to maintain & service
because high story of building. (unless got a specific place to put all air-cond)
b) may costly for minor maintenance.

multi split:
Advantage: a) save place. (only 1 unit for outdoor)
b) centralize. because 1 unit, not so ugly to look 3 units of outdoor unit.

disadvantage: a) too heavy. (difficult to change compressor if break down because of high story building.)
b) compressor break down, 3 unit no need to use.
c) too costly. if change brand new outdoor, it may cost 3 outdoor unit price. and the minor & major maintenance too.

*power consumption almost the same. because centralize outdoor unit just running 1 air-cond if turn on 1 air-cond. not turn on 1 air-cond, 3 running.
NO. if do like this, other 2 units which no turn on will cause freezing as result will huge water leaking once air-cond cut-off. unless it break down.

*cooling is depend on space & the BTU itself. the higher BTU, the cooler it is.

my recommendation is: go for single split. consider for future maintenance cost.
condominium, apartment will go for single split type.
if say about shopping mall. go for centralize which 1 unit around 100 HP.
