Clear all cement, weeds, unsuitable soil and etc. 2) Level and compact the whole area. 3) Lay 1 layer of sand 4) Lay your grass 5) Topping up uneven area with sand. 6) Water to lawn twice a day for atleast 2 weeks. I just did some experiment on apartment yard (tiles floor), I have be trying cow grass.. Cow grass, Philippines grass and Japanese grass at my hometown. I prefer Japanese grass due less maintenance. No need to cut the grass since they like have limited length of leaves unlike Philippine grass which need to be cut from time to time. As per observation I see that the farmer/seller use clay soil and all grass I tried they love direct sunlight (matahari terik) the most provided with good amount of water supply . So in this experiment I bought clay since I want to try at apartment yard. Since my yard facing sun on the afternoon till sun down this would fit my Japanese grass light requirement. Details as below :- - Bought Japanese grass at RM3 per cut (bought 6 cut) at sungai buloh grass seller the more u buy the cheaper price u get - Bought 1 guni of clay soil RM 10 same seller I put 2cm on clay thickness before putting the grass cut. I also have auto water timer 2 times( mist for 10 minutes) this picture after 2 weeks with mild/very little of fertilizer(mix with water spray).. since want to know how good this grass grow without fertilizer. I use 4 cut in this picture balance I gave my mom

Sharing some of my DIY lawn works with phillipine grass. It took 6 months to cover the whole lawn starting with small patches. Lots of weeding work and still have weed to take care til now. Those weed with "bulb" type root is pesky to remove . The end results still doesnt look good. Now having problem with brown spots around. Maybe the grass grow too long and the grass cutter cut too short. I cut every month. This post has been edited by hikashi: Oct 23 2017, 12:21 AM
