The Wildfire run on the 528 MHz processor while the Desire runs on a 1 GHz Snapdragon CPU. Together with the extra RAM available to the Desire, it is surely not same speed at all. For sure Desire performs a lot better than the Wildfire.

N900 & Wildfire is different category phone.
For sure N900 is far better than Wildfire. It fan use Android too if you know how to do it. |

You are asking Android vs Windows 7 indirectly. For now, Android got many Apps and its from Google and you can see many trends of using it.
