My friend got 1 extra BB Bold from australia, he is willing to sell it to me for RM700. Since i do not have a data plan, would you all suggest the BB or E63?

Even without the plan, is BB worth more than the E63 or E71 i terms of functionality and reliability?

Another thing is, the set is from australia, would it have problems with malaysia sim card?

It's the Bold 9700 (Bold 2) or Bold 9000? If it's the former, buy it, you can sell in Malaysia @ higher price.. Then use the money to buy Nokia e72, and you still have leftover, lolz..

Ok back to your question, Blackberry is only better than Nokia in very few, but important aspects.

1. It's all about email & messaging. No matter how good Nokia is (or other phone makers, you name it), no one beats BB.. They are the only ones with true push email functions.. You REALLY only pay what you use. Whereas Nokia, their technology is not quite that sophisticated, and you normally have to connect to the net to retrieve emails.. Now here's the significant difference: if you are using a limited data plan, BB would be a definite choice, as you won't need to constantly connect to the net every hour or so to retrieve your mails, as you do with Nokia. BB's technology allows them to make emails like sms, and you'll only be charged when you receive the mails. And BB compresses the mails to minimum size possible, so you'd be charged with less data transfer. If you are unlimited data plan user, you can online 24/7 it ain't no matter. From here, most people would choose Nokia than BB, because the online data charge for BB unlimited plan is more expensive than usual mobile internet unlimited package. But here's the trick: even though you can online 24/7, you wouldn't switch on your 3G network this way. Why? Because it drains your battery life like hell. Your fully-charged device might not even make it through the day. That is why BB online package still triumphs.

2. It's again about email & messaging, but this time in terms of security. BB device has by far the best security level for mobile devices than any other phones in the market. It doesn't mean it won't be attacked by viruses or invasion, but almost impossible. This is extremely important if you're a business guy, always carrying P&C information on your phone. That is why you see the top management people carrying BB rather than say, LG, no offence though.

3. Finally, it's still about email & messaging. Be it e63, e71, e75 or the latest e72 (my favourite), BB is still the better choice. Yes, all these are FULL-QWERTY keypad device, but if you're paying attention to the design of Nokia & BB, BB's toys are really made for typing. The sleek touch, the solidness of the keypad, and the curve on it, are all made to ensure the best possible typing experience. They are wider and easier to feel than Nokia's.

So I hope I have answered your questions. Your final one, Australia-imported device, I would 99% think it can be used in Malaysia, with a Malaysia SIM card. You just need to subscribe to BB's BIS package and off you go. If you think you can't afford the package, then jailbreak it at anywhere, and you can use it as an ordinary phone. You can still online, but only via WiFi. Your call dude...

Can try nokia 5800. Original zitron/avaxx can get at rm1000. AP at rm800~900.

With its latest v40 firmware which just released last week it's very smooth, lagless and with kinetic scrolling (new homescreen like 5530 too)

You mean the 5800Xpress Music has kinetic scrolling? That's great..! But i saw from Nokia Priority pricing at RM1170.. Is the typing experience good? I like the big screen and its design, but it's the touch screen that makes me stay away from it.

If you're looking for extensive web browsing, BB Bold 2 is out. You will not have the best of experience in surfing the net for sure.

Is camera a really important aspect for you? Do you take photos in every outing with your friends and anything that you saw? If yes, then no phone is better than Satio. No contest. But apart from that, Satio is in every bit inferior to all the phones you mentioned.

Iphone 3G S, need I say more? You would've seen enough yourself. It's briliant, lots of apps, best-in-class touchscreen, great web surfing with its very own Safari browser. You can buy iTunes online, and the on-screen typing isn't bad either. Plenty of joy owning this phone, but there are shortfalls as well. No bluetooth, sucks. Transfer files using iTunes, sucks. Battery life, sucks. Camera quality, sucks. Overall phone usability (as in the basic purpose of phone) sucks. Price, sucks the most.

Google Nexus One by HTC, looks so great that it makes Iphone an idiot. Cheaper, faster, better phone experience, built and the list goes on. But, it's all on paper. I haven't put my hand on this device yet. It looks to dispose Iphone from pole position, but offers very little bult-in memory for 3rd party apps. You will have to buy a new microSD card. I like the Google Android's experience, makes phone using a real pleasure. Looks good to own, but somehow still can't convince myself to. For eg. what's the purpose of the trackball @ the bottom when you have full multi-touch capabilities? HTC brand? Not really my choice.

Nokia N900, new Maemo 5 platform, Linux-based. Even Google's Android was built by Linux in the first place. What more to say on the operating system? Definitely will not lose out to Google's. Now to hardware. Nokia, the best phone maker for a decade, anything better than that? When you put these 2 together, you're gonna get something huge. Touchscreen + full QWERTY keypad = web surfing x msn/sms in perfect state. Some say the N900's resistive touchscreen is no match to Apple's, I say N900 has the best resistive touchscreen ever made. No multi-touch, but the touchscreen experience is one of its kind. Multimedia playing? No problemo.. Nokia's been doing this for years, the first to allow mp3 on phones. Music, video, pictures are better than Iphone's. Full Flash support, Div-X/X-viD enabled, FM radio transmitter, blue-tooth etc. Not a phone to-date can match. Nokia's been collaborating with Microsoft for sometime now, so you can expect Windows Office & Adobe to be included inside for free. And red hot news from Friday, Nokia's enabling Ovi Maps & A-GPS for free to most phones, and N900 is one of it. Free softwares & applications are very important as it saves you big bugs. Again, what are the setbacks? Little 3rd party apps for Maemo-based devices, the price should be at least RM 3000, weight more than any phone here described, and of all, unlikely to be released in Malaysia.

My choice would and will always be N900. No contest. But loving it is one, getting it is another.

For the original 5800 set price it's actually depends on the seller. We're offering in RM9XX only. The reason why nokia priority those retails offer more expensive price because they have to mark up their price from their cost to cover their worker expenses, rental etc.
The demand for this model is very high, personally i also like this phone very much because of the screen and the sound quality.

So you mean the touch-screen function for 5800 is good? i read the review from www.gsmarena.com and the rating is about average.
