Hi! My wife just bought this used I phone from one of the forumers (still waiting for him to get back to us) and the packaging came in superb condition with the original box and all but when we switched it on, there was a white spot on the screen (see pics below).

Can anyone please tell me what this may be and if its fixable?

The spot I'm talking about is the one between the Iphone and Settings icons.

i've came across a few phones with that prob
its either the previous owner applied some force on the phone ie sitting with the phone in his back pocket

or

it came originally like that, try looking at u guy's punya phone, try outputting a black background on the screen, it is not completely black with white patches somewhere

either way, u gotta live with it only

is that iPhone 2G or iPhone 3G? if it's iPhone 3G, shouldn't cost much if it's just the outer LCD that is affected, and even if the inner one affected, it will be cheaper than replacing a iPhone 2G LCD which is just one piece by itself.

I think better get a refund. Not worth the hassle of fixing it. Make sure you keep on chasing the seller.

BTW who is the seller? Is he a regular iphone seller in our forums?

i remember reading somewhere about this dead pixel.
some can be software fix .. the pixel just got stuck ..
but if it's a physical fault, then sorry no help ..
but if it's just bug ..u can run some software screen colour calibration that might "release" the dead pixel ...

do some google search and you should be able to find some solution

its the 2G model.

good idea from Choongster. i'll defly look into that software but i'd rather not touch it or anything because i don't want to take the chance of mucking it up further. sweat.gif

and to MangO, the seller is not a regular iPhone seller on the forums. he said he's just dealing for his gf and both claim that it was problem free the night before the shipped it. im impressed with the way they wrapped the packaging. but the box it came in was in pristine condition so i don't think it got crushed during delivery. the good thing is that the seller is keeping in touch and seems willing to work things out. smile.gif here's hoping for a good turn out! icon_rolleyes.gif

Dead pixel is black, white pixels are called hot pixels

and since urs is a dead pixel, there are no chance of recovery, if its white or any other colour it may have a chance to fix by itself

I kinda dropped my 2g iphone yesterday, and there's this little mark on the top left of the screen(where the cellular network logo is at). How much is it to replace the lcd screen? initially i thought it was a stuck pixel, but then using the hex color flash method for almost a night did nothing except make the mark change shape abit(not sure if that was the case). Also, is there anywhere i can get this fixed? doh.gif

Just realised that my iphone has 3 pink spots near the ear piece when under sunlight or any flash. It is barely visible under normal light. I just need to know if this is normal or there is a problem with the screen. So far everything works fine with the phone. Got it from chinamobile, a iphone 3G 16gb white.

Here are the pics, not sure if you can see it

Hmm, where can i get a replacement for RM400? My 2G screen is dead but I've replaced it with an iPhone 3G.. but if the screen repair for the 2G costs about RM400, then I might as well get it repaired.

Hi, I was browsing Appstore on my Iphone 3G (2.2.1) when the screen suddenly flashed when I pressed the home button and then the display went blank.

I couldn't get it to display anything anymore after that but when I connect it to my computer, I can still browse my stuff in it.

I tried calling this phone- the dialer gets the dut dut sound but my Iphone remains silent.

Any idea how to fix this? It is barely a few days old.

Yala.. got 3 pink round shape thing right? That is the sensor la.... Not screen faulty la.. Do u realize that when u place a phone call on your ear. Then back light actually TURN off to save battery life and when u leave it from your ear.. You gain your screen display back... Try this, when u make a call. Use your hand to cover the sensor part.. U will notice that the display is OFF.. when u release your hand, you gain your display back...

8gb 3GS is out already? Btw, not to burst your bubble, I don't think you got a NEW unit. It is probably a refurbished set, albeit should be an immaculate one. Check the Part/Model no. and it should be an US no. Nonetheless, it will still be tagged as officially unlocked and with whatever warranty attached it.
