Just test out my new A300 yesterday, realised that it's really not easy to get nice picture without going through a learning curve. Below is the best pictures i selected for almost 50 of them...

Just wanna ask: How to get a more lively color on shooting landscape? is the vivid mode enough? (eg: to get a nice solid color like those shows by jimlim007 above...)

Btw i think i have issue in adjusting the brightness, seems like the auto mode metering being trick by the strong background sunlight, resulted most of my outdoor pict being quite dim (like wanna rain... -.- ) or over expose, eg:

Anyway just wanna ask, is there any good recommended book for a DSLR beginner? My first goal is to shoot nice landscape when i gets to travel around. My shooting style may lean more with landscape, buildings, macro, and sea/beach/sky, night scene. Until i get to master these then only i proceed to others (potraits, events, sports etc)

prefer a chinese version... laugh.gif

kinkikids, first of all, welcome to the world of ALPHA! rclxms.gif Now, dslr is a completely different camera compared to a normal compact camera. There are many things that you need to learn as you move along before you can start producing good photos. So... let the learning begins. Anyway, to answer your question: Landscape shots benefits the most from the VIVID creative style as it tends to boost the saturation of the greens, yellows and blues. Use this mode in a portrait shot, and you will get too much saturation, making the model look a bit unnatural. And in VIVID mode, you will notice that you can actually also tweak the Contrast, Saturation & Sharpness further. How much is enough? I can't tell you that because that is a user preference that differs from one person to the next. You gotta experiment by yourself to find a setting that suits you the most. All the best in your testing and do share your photos here more often so that we can help each other to grow in photography. thumbup.gif

i am a Alpha 300 user with 18-70 kit-lens. I wish to get a CPL filter to capture nice landscape, which CPL filter should i get and where can i get best price?

I saw this thread: http://forum.lowyat.net/index.php?showtopic=929744&hl=CPL and wonder is the filter fits into my kitlens, and those mm what is it mean? fix zoom? (sorry i am very noob), thus can anybody guide me? heard that Hoya filter is the best...

I think i need it within this week..

i think it cannot fit ur kitlens...because kitlens has a front rotating element(focusing element) CPL is needed to be twisted to get the best effect...so it will be troublesome if u have ur front element rotating..
*
So what is the alternative of this besides getting Hoya Pro 1D? What usually alpha user do to get CPL effects?

But i think they serve different purpose right?

CPL filter CAN be used on your kitlens or what ever front rotating element lens. but u will get a lil bit troublesome...
when u attach CPL filter on your kitlens or front rotating element lens, u should half press the shutter button to get in focus..
then while half press and hold it, adjust your CPL filter according to your needs...
*
So is this the common practice for alpha user? Or is it only Alpha user that troublesome but not the canikon user?
