Please let me know if I'm posting in wrong place. thank you

This is my first time building a customized laptop. I'm quite sure about other stuffs but Motherboard and CPU.

my question is, will AMD Athlon X2 5200+ processor with ASUS M3A78-EM motherboard work well?
Any comment?
I need more understanding on this motherboard. Please give me some guide.

Also, I want to use my spoiled laptop which LCD and DVD Rom are still in good condition. What should I do?
Thank you.

i'm confused here. you're building a laptop or a desktop? coz your title says dekstop, and you're saying laptop..

no, you can't mix both laptop and desktop components together.

yeah, good luck doing that. And please, tell me when you got it done.

ok, enough sarcasm, yeah, its actually can be done, but its very2 hard to find the connector. plus you have to built your own mounting to mount the dvd and the lcd screen. its better to buy a proper new desktop dvd and lcd

It is possible. But who in the right mind would do that anyway? It's like buying an xp but wanting to customize to vista look and functions. Why not just buy a vista then? DVD rom wouldnt cost much anyway.

Also r u thinking of dismantling ur laptop lcd to make it a desktop monitor? Well, it can be done (in fact can also be turned into a projector) but it's gonna be one hell of a work.

1. dvd-rom very cheap.. dirt cheap.

2. lcd in the last year price been tumbling downwards until so affordable and cheap as well.

i see no reason why these peripherals need to be salvaged from a laptop, but if you do manage to, please post pics smile.gif
