Quoted from her post at USJ.com:

Hello there. I haven't been browsing this forum for quite awhile, focusing on other commitments. So please excuse me for writing this all of a sudden.

I am raising funds for Gamma Knife Radiosurgery to kill a tumor attached to my right optic nerve. This is my remaining eyesight that must be saved. I was born with an underdeveloped left eye. And tumors had already taken away both my hearing nerves.

As you know, I raised funds for the Auditory Brainstem Implant in 2006 and the members of this forum contributed. Sounds are electrically stimulated and I can hear all sounds, but speech discrimination will take a lifetime to train before I can use this implant to understand speech. Therefore, I rely on my eyesight a great deal. It helps me study in college and live independently.

The discounted cost is RM94,000.00.
We managed to raise RMRM37,346.62 as of today.

This treatment is to be done in March 2009, at Good Samaritan Hospital, and by doctors I know and trust.

You can read more details at my website here: http://www.yvonnefoong.com/donate/

I would like to apologize if this message offends you. I also hope you'd spare me a minute and consider supporting too.

This tumor will blind the eye if left untreated.

Thank you.

About The Ambigram

The Heart4Hope Ambigram is a mirror ambigram. It reads the same in the mirror. To create this design, the task involved careful studies of how ambigrams work. At one point, the computer used to save our files crashed, and the Heart4Hope Ambigram needed to be retraced. But it only got better.

The goal behind Heart4Hope is to spread awareness about Neurofibromatosis. It spells hope, never to allow an illness set limits, and to live with dignity. It appeals to the hearts of people who believe and share this dream.

Proceeds from the sale of Heart4Hope t-shirts including the Ambigram, helps fund Yvonne Foong’s healthcare . Being uninsured and a student, Heart4Hope and friends assist in providing necessary medical needs

With a vision for ideals, and gratitude for your continuous support, the Heart4Hope Ambigram has been created with added dedication to provide comfort. The ladies’ tees consist of specially woven fabric, produced on demand, and dyed with carefully selected colors. Throughout the production process, workers could be observed sewing our fabrics into individual t-shirts according to design and specifications. Finally, the Heart4Hope Ambigram design was then printed, sealing the brand. Costly rubber dye was used to enhance the durability of our t-shirts.

The Heart4Hope Ambigram for men comes in one size with standard measurements today. In due time and with extra support, it is hoped that more styles will eventually become feasible to create for the gentlemen. This is one of the visions.

“From her lifelong battle with Neurofibromatosis to being Crowned as Most outstanding Youth Of The Year of 2005, Yvonne Foong’s story is both involving and extraordinary.
