I've watch the movie, not bad lar, quite good, I'll give it a 8/10. But I still think Dark Knight is better tho.

There's a few things I want to add after I read some of the postings here:

1. Cobb and Saito actually went into the Limbo at the end, mean they cannot be saved ... in reality they 2 should be in coma, they will live in dreamland forever until ... die.

Cobb can have his dream come true where he can meet his children in the dream ... I not sure is this consider as good or bad ending.

Saito on the other hand I feel he get his karma ... he try to do bad thing to Fischer and end up sendiri went into coma forever ... haiz ...

2. Ariadne is the only person other than Cobb notice Cobb's mind is sick, a sick person will produce sick dream ... which is very dangerous if they are in a mission. Some part in Cobb's mind already lose control and cause many unwanted things to happen.

3. Mal in the dream is not the actual Mal, she is just the projection of Cobb's guilt and anger, that's why in the dream she is angry, violent, sad, and emotional. In real life Mal is a kind person, she will never attack other people.

4. Why Fischer mind is so hard to penetrate is because Fischer has been trained for dream defensive skill previously ... his sub-conscious will auto attack intruders aggressively.

5. Cobb does not live in dream all the while ... the totem did stop spinning at the beginning. He only stuck in dream after he went to save Saito.

do u guys notice something . that saito and mal use this words : Take a Leap of Faith .. i wonder why . anybody wanna elaborate tongue.gif
*
Leap of Faith mean suicide. Because only when get kill you will wake up. But the problem is you have to be sure you are in a dream ... else you really die if you are in reality.

So you have to put faith that you suicide in dream.

I hope so. Would be a nice ending for Fischer.  smile.gif
Ah, karma. Here's another perspective on the film that I just heard from a friend:

Cobb is not a good person. Neither is Saito. Both of them are trying to victimize Fischer, an innocent man. From a karma point of view, if Cobb is still trapped in a dream world at the end, it's because he deserves it.

Also, I mentioned this before - I got the impression that Cobb incepted an idea into Saito, the same idea he incepted into Mal. Which means that Saito would eventually believe that reality is not real, and that he will end up killing himself. Which, again, is what he deserves.
*
Actually what Fischer saw is fake also, they had planned the 'safe box' for Fischer to 'con'vince himself. But the truth of did Fischer dad love him or not is not important, the important is that Fischer 'believes' his dad did love him and wish him to build his own empire ... Cobb and the rest planning this for many times ... do you remember there's a scene where Cobb saying how to convince Fischer in a 'positive' way to destroy his own empire ... the best way was actually make him believe his dad love him and want him to destroy it.

Saito is really in the Limbo dreamland ... Cobb is really trying to save him ... Cobb is actually not a bad guy, he just trying to fool with ability, but never thought such a small change of mind would end up killing his own wife. From that day onwards his mind and heart never get into peace ... the 'Mal' in his heart is full of anger, guilt, and vengeance ....

Finally he got his peace ... but end up in dream land forever ... his 'Mal' is no longer there because he heal his heart's wound already. That's why I say dunno is this a good ending or bad ending.

1. Wrong. If you die in dreamland, you go into limbo until your sedation wears off. Then you wake up. The question is, are you still sane after that?
Not sure about this tho ... I thought after the sedation wear off ... the victim will be in coma or insane forever? So they try not to get killed in the dream ...

I already answered this. Padding! Time slows down even more in level 3, and to juxtapose this with the relatively faster time in level 2, they have to have the characters do something busy, like taking on entire teams of generic henchman, sniping, making their way through snow. The same can be said about the zero-gravity scenes in which we are shown nothing but Arthur moving the bodies from one location to the another. It's the only reason for all this bullshit action. Why couldn't they have just placed their point of entry right in the fortress? This is one (and maybe only) area of the script that's not only not up to Nolan's high standards, but also shockingly bad.
*
Because you cannot completely control your dream (or other person dream)

Remember Cobb's Mal and kids always come out unexpectedly?

Third dream end up far from fortress is actually an accident ... the more accident part is the fortress super heavy guard ... because Fischer was trained to defense his mind previously. Lucky Cobb successfully 'con'vince to Fischer that those defense are actually enemy to Fischer ... so actually Fischer is fighting with his own sub-conscious to get to the 'safety box' ... they are so evil ... tongue.gif

I got 1 question. During when did Cobb's totem stop spinning?? Coz I dont recall it stop.

Or maybe the totem will just go according to the dreamer's wish, as he said that you can create everything in the dream.
*
In the beginning of the movie it did stop a few times ... indicate Cobb is in reality.

One funny question.
Yusuf caused the 1st lvl dreamscape to rain because he had the urge to pee.

What happens if he had the urge to take a dump?
*
When I want to pee in dream ... I will dream about water or toilet something.

When I have the urge to take a dump ... I think I will dream I got stomachache in the dream .... will dream in a hospital and panic-ally looking for doctor ...

If Cobbs can't get into States, why didn't he smuggles their children out of states ????

Makes me wonder if it is an inception being carried out.
*
aiya movie only ... no need so serious. probably their grandparent dun allow them to do tat ... if out of US illegally ... where they can get a citizenship? North Korea?

Actually the most illogical part is why Saito have to nearly sacrifice his life just to defeat Fischer empire ... come to think of it ... I think it's not worth at all ... you end up in a Limbo just to make your opponent choose to be independence ... what a stupid reason.

It was Arthur's fault for not briefing them about the heightened security.

It is also MAINLY Cobb and Yusuf's fault for not telling them that they will go to "Cuckoo limboland" if they die in the dream with powerful sedative concoctions.

Well honestly, i think Eames is the most reliable team member compared to everyone else.
*
I'll say it's mainly Saito's fault ... fuuu ... who ask him come out a stupid idea want to corrupt Fischer's mind?

I like Ariadne the most, lucky she can escape at the end.

cos Fischer is about to inherit a corporation that controls 70% of the world's energy production(or something like that), and Saito's company no longer can compete with them, so he want Cobb to put an idea in Fischer's mind so that he will break down his father's company
*
I know.

There's many way to compete, but using dirty trick like this is not good lor.

end up bringing trouble to everyone only.

QUOTE(keeseng12 @ Jul 20 2010, 10:44 AM)
indeed the best movie i've ever watched this year. perhaps for my entire life so far.
Christopher Nolan never fail to give me a goosebump at the ending of the movie.
First was Memento, then with Dark Knight and this movie is like the-mystery-of-Memento combined with explosion-from-Dark-Knight.

Here's my interpretation of the movie. I could be wrong. biggrin.gif

Let's take the picture above as the start. The picture is saying that there's 5 level - as depicted in the picture.
My understanding on this movie is that there's 6 levels.
Level 1 in the picture is actually Level 2.
Level 2 in the picture is actually Level 3 and so on.
The very Level 1 is actually Cobb's dream.
Whether there is a machine called 'Inception', that's really up to us to think as this whole movie is actually Cobb's dream.
In case this is not a strong statement, think of the movie 'Identity' where throughout the whole story, there's just only 1 person, in this movie - it's Cobb.

What i'm going to say onwards is more towards my own imagination and thoughts of this movie.
His wife and kids had been dead for quite a long time. He couldn't accept the death of his family and most importantly, he can't accept the fact that his wife has been dead.
Therefore, it tooks so many layers deep inside his mind to forget about Mal. With him really able to let go Mal, then only he's able to see his kids' faces. Well, the kids might/might not exist. Let's say they exists. He will only be able to 'face' their kids when he fully let go of his wife's death.

As i mentioned earlier, the entire thing was Cobb's dream. What i'm saying next might be insane.
Mr Saito is the projection of his realself in the real reality.
Cobb is an old man that is waiting for his death in a lonely way.
In Real Reality, Cobb is an old man. Back to the previous theory I've mentioned, due to he's unable to accept the fact of his family's death, he choose to dream. Dream to be young again and find those memories back again. In denial, you can say. At last when he's managed to let go, he's able to 'gain happiness' with his kids.
Well, whether Cobb using Inception machine, or merely just sleep with sedative and dream, we'll never know.
And I don't hope for sequel or prequel of this, Masterpiece should be just 1. smile.gif
*
Like I said b4 ... it was not Cobb's dream all the while. The first part of the movie is really in reality. The pic of 5 levels actually is an official release, so it has the final says.

And finally is not he able to 'forgot' Mal ... is he finally accept who is the real face of Mal in his dream, that is not the real Mal, it was the projection of his guilt and anger only. That's why the Mal in his dream always emotional and vengeance.

Another logic flaw is the time calculation have to be super duper precise ...

in level 3 the snow fortress explode ... then they wake up in level 2 the hotel lift drop and explode ... then they wake up in level 1 inside the van drown in river ... then they have climb out else they will drown in the river and forever stuck in Limbo. Then they have to wait the sedate to wear off and wake up from level 1.

Come to think of it ... I dun fukken know how to calculate the time until tat precise in different level ... some more all levels got different time calculation one ...

I actually find Mal to be very terrifying. Everytime she appears on screen, bad things happen. Her cold eyes and out of control behaviour. Imagine the butcher knife and broken glass, her yelling at Cobb to stay with her and grow old together, really send chill up my spine.
*
My fav part of Inception is actually Cobb - Mal relationship. How they in love, build their home in dream land, escape from it, unable to accept reality, suicide, and live alone with guilt.

Ya, Mal in Cobb's dream is twisted and scary, that's because Cobb's mind is sick and he need help. If Cobb get help from psychiatrist, I think Mal won't be appear so dangerous to everybody. Fischer is lucky as he finally get release from the anger with his father.

Do you know that in Cobb's dream, he always get killed by Mal (or screwed up by her), maybe because he want to repay his guilt towards wat he did on Mal.

For the action part, I think I prefer Matrix ... action scenes in Inception is kinda plain actually.
