I think he is still in a dream, you notice how the kids didnt change position? how the kids didnt grow up??
And omg, this show reminds me of me trying to learn lucid dreaming. lucid dreaming is a process where i am aware of my dream and i control it. its like, i was going reality check reality check everyday, and finally i went lucid twice, but then i gave up, too much work. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lucid_dream

The apparatus for them to go into the dream is gone. Although I don't know the purpose of that briefcase is either injecting the sedative only or also serves as a link. Everytime the person wakes up from the dream, they remove the sedative tube. Or they might as well think Cobb and Saito is dead and just removed it from them.

Yeah... it deserves a few cute scenes... The girl is too naive in someways... Hahhahaa...
i agree, waaaayyy to naive haha.
I dont get the scene where she is in the dream and pulls the two glass doors and reflects . what was taht far??

The briefcase is for them to share their dreams together. Hence when they wake up, the tube must be hooked to their arm. But at the final scene where Cobb and Saito woke up, the briefcase is gone. And Cobb was given an immigration form. Then where's the briefcase? It was located at the middle of all of them. Then it's gone when they both wake up.
But still, loophole i guess..
i think ALL of us just got played by the director.
I bet he is rofling in his room reading imdb forum
I just watched it again and I must say I didn't feel like I missed much the first time around. My interpretation of the ending is pretty much the same.
I just want to tell you up front that I reported you.
And I quoted you so moderators can see clear clear.
Cheers.

That ending is definitely plausible. Or Saito didn't even need to

shoot Cobb if the drug wore off before Saito could shoot Cobb. All that mattered was that Saito remembered about the deal.
And the totem was losing speed before it cut to Cobb's kids but as the camera leaves Cobbs and places the totem back into the frame, it's spinning indefinitely.
But if you think the totem stops, then your ending is plausible.

if it was in dream state, the totem WOULD NOT lose speed at all, as the their totem is designed in perfect balance, it would keep on spinning and spinning like shown in the movie when he spinned his totem in the dream world.
but thats just me, i still belive that the director is rofl-ing at us in his bedroom PC

getting killed in the dream without sedatives --> boot you out instantly getting killed in the dream with sedatives --> your mind ends up in limbo
but now you mentioned it, i think i missed the part where they explained how to get back from the limbo
i think that the young and old is just visual deception, Cobb explained to Ariadne he and his wife lived in the limbo for 50+years...and it was his wife who refused to get back to reality, but Cobb decided that he had enough and want to go back to reality, so he found his wife's safe, and incepted the idea so that they will suicide at the railroad and get back...
+1

i still wondering how to get out of limbo.
i think what they mean is that, if u get KILLED in a dream with sedatives, you mind ends up in limbo, except you THINK You are in reality.
but if u went into Limbo intentionally, meaning that you enter limbo without dying, you can still go out by suicide =D
so what they meant is that, if they die and went into limbo, they need to suffer many many years in there before coming out as young men.
remember saito said something like :" even if i go inside limbo, i will wake up as a young man" or something like that

Just came back from watching it and it was indeed a great film but not so much for the hype it's been getting. Feels like TDK all over again, except with lesser flaws and more mindfcuk. Still digesting the movie as I'm typing and reading pages after pages of comments is not helping either. This feels like a typical Nolan movie with a face paced and unemotional ride. I like how he conjured this whole idea and executed it deftly. That being said, it's still nowhere near a masterpiece personally and definitely not his best.

I think the movie never explained how one escapes from limbo right? Is death an option?
i guess so.
cobb and his wife use death ( train ) to escape limbo
I can't ever remember that I'm concious in my own dream, only when I wake up then I aware. Maybe there are some person in the world can do it. So the ability to aware you're in a dream within dream is a gift for the person.
From Cobb himself
"Cobb: [from trailer] Dreams feel real while we're in them. It's only when we wake up that we realize something was actually strange. "
nay, you can train that ability.
i already tried it, after 2 weeks i succeed 2 times, but its daunting to learn that i rather just sleep happily lol~
just google "Lucid Dreaming" and u would be suck into a vortex of hours of reading =X
every other dreamer knew they're in a dream, but the surroundings still stays....
cause they already pro ma.
its her dream, cause cobb ask her :" do you remember getting here?" then she realize its a dream and cant accept it, thats why everything torn apart.
just like fisher dream when they did operation mr charles, cobb told him that he is in a dream, and everything was going to crumble unless he accept the fact that he is in a dream
Yea Eames did said that but i also remembered Cobb saying "set the charges" if my hearing didn't fail me right after they said it's over (before Ariadne's suggestion). I need someone to confirm this, I'm having doubts on this one now
i remember that too.
When fisher died, cobb said something bout set the charges.
OMG... 3-disc set with a friggin totem, I somehow (and others too) knew the collector's edition would have a totem! Who knows inside the set could have some secret compartment or some kind of secret. "TDK Blu-ray" was filled with extras but this is amazing!
BTW check this out and lol :
LOL EPIC!! i want the totem!!! IMAGINE THE LECTURER GO HEY U UP THERE, ARE U DREAMING? PAY ATTTENTION!
*Stand up and spin totem*
*SPPIiiiiinnnn...................drop*
*fark*
and lol at the juno reference in the howitshould end
