Says the guy who thought Avatar was great.

Avatar is better than Inception. I have no hesitation in calling Avatar a good movie, it may not be great, it will almost certainly not stand the test of time, but it takes a very unoriginal story and executes it well enough. You could say it is the very antithesis of Inception.

Avatar was pretty much Disney's Atlantis with more violence and CGI.
It is about Cobb going home, and the focus on him was appropriate; yet as mentioned the entire first 3 quarters of the movie was easily brushed aside for a simple, abrupt ending. The inception was a success as Fischer did mention what he was going to do, but it would have been better if he was actually shown doing it rather than "talking about it" which is one of the gripes we agree on.

Anyway, good try Nolan... but keep it simple next time or you might end up like M.Night Shyamalan, whom I actually think got too much unnecessary flak.

I wasn't actually talking about showing Fischer dissolving his father's empire. I dont think we need to see that nor is it in the scope of the movie. What I was talking about was using visuals to flesh out the ideas and concepts instead of relying on verbally explaining them to the audience mostly via Ariadne. The concept provides such a rich visual template but a pity Nolan could do shit with it.

That I have to agree. Truck flip wasn't that mesmerizing after watching it 20 times now.

Nolan can't film action scenes but The Dark Knight had some damn good shots- Batman jumping down on the van, the Joker's head sticking out of the car window, Joker upside down, and yes, the friggin awesome shot the the flipping truck!

well the thing you wanted him to show clearly wont be able to done under 1 shot...but at least he tried (the folding city)

and yeah, the action sequence in Inception was under par...the rotating hallway fight is one good example...

Inception’ in Real-Time Split Screen

Youtube user Weikang decided to edit a four and a half minute cut of Christopher Nolan‘s Inception which plays Yusuf’s dream, Arthur’s dream, Eames’ dream, and Cobb in Limbo simultaneously using split screens with adjustments for time dilation. I’m not sure if the resulting video gives any more insight into the film, but it’s an interesting experiment

the only fault in the video that i can find is when Arthur said "no its too soon", Yusuf have not put the headset on his ears in the van at that time lol

Something I find weird about the idea of subconscious in Inception is that if the Mal in Cobb is suppose to be part of his subconcious, why wouldnt "she" know Cobb incepted an idea into her? since she is a part of his subconcious, "she" should know better than Cobb himself, even things that Cobb doesnt realize about himself.

Maybe Cobb never let out or told anyone until that time, even his projection Mal doesnt seem to know.

His guilt is that he NEVER told Mal he incepted her and that idea caused her to 'turn left'.

I thought he did? The first heist showed all the concepts visually. Ariadne's tutorial session also did the same, but combo-ed with lotsa dialogue. Folding city, infinity mirror, etc.

I thought there was plenty of visuals to appreciate in the movie. Unfortunately, in order to be breathtaking, it works the most impact on first viewing on the big screen. It's just not the same when you watch it the second time with the small screen. That's the thing about visuals.

Personally though, I thought this was a very good movie, not the best movie.

Mal is the manifestation of his guilt. What the subconcious knows or thinks is not important nor is it relevant. After all, this is not an independent sentient being. It is merely the manifestation of his subconcious guilt. What is most important is that Mal reflects his guilt.
