ok i just watched it. fukken fantastic movie made my mind = blown.

but some loose ends to tie

i dont really remember details from the 1st part. where cobb met old saito. was that the same scene from the end of the movie?

and a few things which didnt tie up for me (perhaps cos i missed some details):
1. how long was the sedative supposed to last? cos a person can wake up by dying after the effects of the sedative diminished right?

2. when cobb met his dad in the university. why was his dad there? cos in the end we saw his dad in america.

3. saito died in the snows. was he connected to cobb's dream after going into limbo, through the machine? if yes. it would work out to cobb being back in reality at last.

if not, it meant cobb was searching for his projection of saito, which killed him and sent him into limbo, and in the ending with the kids it was cobb in limbo (it didnt make sense that his dad was in america when he met cobb somewhere else at the uni)
but if the sedative was not in effect it would mean cobb wakes up but saito would have still been in limbo.

4. can u wake up by killing yourself in the state of limbo? cos that's what cobb n wife did right? which didnt really make sense as well cos didnt they grow old when in limbo? unless time as we know it is warped as well in limbo

if some of the loose ends dont tie up well it may very well mean that cobb was in limbo after all, in the end. the key is with saito

I think in the end, Cobb still stucked in limbo, But he rebuild limbo to his ideal way of life. as he mentioned.

A single idea from the human mind can build cities. An idea can transform the world and rewrite all the rules.

Cobb and Mal did it before, so this time he did it alone. Where everything is perfect.

1. the mission was 10hrs long, so the sedatives would last that long as well

2. Miles was Mal's dad, so he's Cobb's father in law, and the reason he's in LA because Cobb wants him to bring the toy to his children

3. it seems that everyone dropped down to the same place (limbo) after they died under sedation, only Cobb can go in to save Fischer via the machine (didn't being explained)....the reason i said he's in limbo when he confronted Mal was because he said 1 thing:"Saito is dead and is down here somewhere"

4. Cobb and Mal did become old man in the limbo (its showed in the end, just before Mal died)

The whole movie cannot be a dream. We've seen several times how Cobb spins the top and it topples (in reality).

1. but u cant kill yourself in when ur in limbo when ur under sedation, so what gives? unless u'll still wake up after killing urself while ur still sedated which would well, wouldn't make sense medically speaking.

2. ah maybe i missed the part he asked his father in law to go to LA to get the toys to the kids

3. i would assume that in limbo, it would be a personal dream. cos u need the machine to connect dreams. and saito wasnt connected to cobb and ariadne in the snows was he. that's the key. was he connected or not. and i dont think fischer was in limbo. he was dying and they went a level deeper (cobb's house, level 4) to save him cos the effects of the injury was lesser 1 level down. this is cos he was dying in cobb's house/level 4 and when eames used the defribrillator in the snows/level 3 he was revived, jumped, connected the kick of jumping and the defribillator acting and woke up in level 3. when u go into limbo, ur injuries which led to your death in the dream will not show - proven when cobb and mal 1st went into limbo, they got to live to a ripe old age (or did they)

4. but it showed that to get out of limbo they put their heads on the train tracks - and when they did that. they looked nothing like old people. brows.gif

1. i did some searching for the flight time from Sydney to LA, its 15hrs long, and in the end when Cobb woke up, they are 20minutes from landing, so the sedation should be gone for 4-5hrs

2. yep, the scene where Cobb asked Miles for a new architect

3. to be honest, they did not connect to Fischer either in the snow fortress (at least it was not shown)

4. the second time where they showed they are in old age, they did showed that they lie on the track (only hands, but definitely old hands) tongue.gif
i am still wondering why the director showed 2 different things on this....

Only prove that he is not in another ppl dream. The totem is useless if he is inside his own dream. So it's still possible the whole movie is a dream actually.

So what is the point of showing the totem spinning at the end of the movie? Its kind of pointless to guess what will happen to the spinning top when we know at its going to stop spinning in his dream.

On top of that, no one else in the reality (except for the assassins) attacked Cobb, or even his partners.

its the act of inception by Nolan to the viewers, just like what Cobb did to his wife laugh.gif

Cobb did say that a totem can only be unique to its owner right? The gasing is his wife's as far as I can remember. So it could be that the top isn't reliable at some parts.

Its more like David Lynch's Mulholland Drive, open to interpretation, no proper explanation given just to keep people guessing for many years to come.

the projections only attack the architect (host) if the subject is starting to realise that he is in a dream.

can be seen when they enter ariedne's dream the 1st time and during when the 1st architect was killed in saito's dream (riot scene)

so if u dont know ur dreaming ur projections wont attack anyone

but all in all i dont buy the theory that the whole movie is a dream. i believe the end part was a dream though, cobb's state of limbo after being killed by old saito, which was actually a projection.

Arthur's totem is not even unique because its a regular dice, yet it can be consider unique if he looked at it in a certain way.

So maybe Cobb see the top as a unique item because it belonged to his wife, and perhaps the wife see her totem in a different manner than Cobb (maybe she loved top!).

I thought Arthur's dice is a bit special? Like its supposed to have some sort of weight in it. Only he knows the dice's behavior, or something.
