Anyone take foundation in UTAR before? I would like to know more about the foundation. Share your experience

I hav frens taking foundation in UTAR.
I think its not THAT easy as compared to other colleges' foundation.
Cuz my fren was quite good in studies, but only get marks just enough to pass.

izzit really that tough.. ? its just foundation... i'm sure its easier than A levels... :-D

should be able to cope with it...... if you did well for your spm.. :-)

seriously... the way they mark the exam papers is like hell... acceptable within their answer only.. even you are right... but not within it..

maybe your study method needa change gua... i'm sure they mark according to marking scheme which is the standard precedure for most exams.. even A lvls or stpm.. they too mark base on the answer scheme... even if you take foundation in other universities.. it'd most probably be the same lo... xD

if foundation in arts they got much more time to study because they got no practical...
but for foundation in science the time are fully occupied... damn tired and hard to study...
but if u really study hard then it should not b a problem...

UTAR's foundation is relatively quite stressful i'd say... not tough but it's the time factor and the amount of things you have to study.... so yeah... with a lil bit of effort and a pinch of determination, it shouldn't be that hard....

if u r taking foundation in science, then it might be tougher than arts.

btw, my roomate who always dota dota dota and dota, and he do take foundation in science too, but can score well too. i think his cgpa is more than 3.7 like tat..

for sure sometimes he got study la.. but also once in the blue moon lor, and during the exam week, he got study too..
but after study, dota again..

currently taking foundation in arts... final sem..
6 subject per long sem.. 2 subject short sem...
alots of presentation...
shud be easier than stpm and a-level..
but alot of subjects...
overall... still fine for me...

Well, I dont really like computer studies...
to me, its like biology except that this time its studying bout computer components...
lots of memorising to be done..
many device names and terms to be remembered...
need to learn bout the basics of computer like system unit, motherboard, blabla.. and also the types hardwares such as printers, scanners.. blabla.. sumthing like that...

its something like biology too, many things to memorize, but i think it is easier than biology.

basically, computer studies is the subject that introduce to you more about computer stuff.

arhh my question is abt the Is there any graphics designing or html that sort of stuff? in computer studies

No, its just that when everything fails, you go there, A Fail Safe.

That's not included in that subject, u got another subject called web page design for that. That's what I know from my friends in foundation.

ok, if you r in stream C,

in the 1st sem of ur foundation, u wil be studying computer studies(talk about wat is computer blablabla..) + another 5 subjects

2nd sem, web page design(all about html code, but u r using notepad to create website but not other software) + another 5 subjects

3rd sem, problem solving and programing(learn about c code) + another 1 subject

haha no prob man , i learn Html and css codes when form 4, use notepad all the way never once use a program for Website designing . COOL BTW!
ANyway where u get to know all these stream stuff?

out of the 3 subject... i prefer programming the most, next is web page design, and i hate computer studies the most...
as for LAN subject, i postpone it to degree... and thats the reason of why i'm sooo free during this final sem in foundation... =.=

can... if u're taking degree in utar also.. they hav such kind of thing...
coz if not... u'll be really very busy on final sem...

i thought if u apply for foundation already confirm a spot for u in UTAR for your degree, cause during application they ask what degree, And their offer to me is Foundation in science leading to Bachelor of Actuarial Science.

ya, there is always leading to bachelor of this and tat, i don think other U or college will recognize foundation level, beside the U that u taking their foundation.

I guess... UTAR foundation is harder than MMU. Cox you guys cover more scope it it not? Arts and science only... Correct me if I'm wrong...

actually after foundation.. u can transfer to other coll/U for degree also...

i dont think so.

Utar recognize MMU foundation... depends on wad course you wish to pursue in degree..

Actually, for MMU, as long as the subject syllabus is 70% and more the same as the MMU one's, you may just credit transfer. Shouldn't be a problem if you come from UTAR. But I think it wont be cool if you take foundation from UTAR then come to MMU for degree.. Foundation in MMU is easier than UTAR...

Hey, i have this question about foundation for UTAR.
The amount in the bills that i received along with the offer letter is it for 1 semester or the whole foundation?

If its for 1 semester, considering i got 100% tuition fee waiver, does this apply for semester 2 and semester 3, Which means i only Pay RM 1009 for the whole foundation?

Are you sure? the amount u pay, just a small portion goes to your tuition fees while the rest are for other things.. The money u pay, will be deducted for first semester of the total amount you are suppose to pay... Does not apply for 2nd and 3rd semester. It works like a deposit... Thats what if I can remember it correctly... Or maybe that have change the system..

my 1st semester tuition fee Which is Rm2160 is waived, i need to pay miscellaneous which is Rm 1009, Then i msg them they say following semesters, they say you still need to pay the Miscellaneous and u must perform well or else no Waive tuition fee.

Wow.. i don't know that... fuh... but if perform well, lets say cgpa 3.9 can get utar scholarship then... hehe..

haha... yaya. But try ur best then. MMU oso dun have our own scholarship. Only under TM, and that is if people consider that as MMU own scholarship..

hmm..i m a newbie here..but i am also goin utar for foundation too..actly,what i feel was,whether it is difficult or easy,i depends on how much effort you put in it..n your commitment..if u feel like u really wanna score and you wanna get gud marks,u will surely get that coz u will struggle for that..
but then,most of my frens told me that form 6 are much more toughter and more stressful compare to foundation.they said that you can do foundation easily without pressure..huh?and what i've awnser them was 'u haven tried it but how you know that form 6 is toughter than foundation?'but,it really depends la..

I'm from UTAR's foundation in science, PJ campus.. and i'm now doing my degree in UTAR's Faculty of Science and Engineering (FES)..

I went in to UTAR reluctantly. Like most students, i kept blaming my fate.. Why am i not wealthy enough to enter better uni? Why i am not bright enough to get a scholarship to a better uni?

But today, I'm missing my foundation life like hell...
I've had alot alot of wonderful memories there, together with my foundation friends and our wonderful lecturers.. Do note that most foundation lecturers are kinda young, but most of them possess a master. And seriously, they are the most dedicated and nicest lecturers that i've ever seen, not sure if that holds in Kampar Campus, but that's what i experienced in PJ campus.

I learned alot in my foundation.. and what i learned aren't only limited to academic, but also some soft skills which i find very valuable.. For instance, I am able to do my presentation quite well, I'm able to interact with others better than last time.

Hell yea, I'm also able to design my own webpage now.. and i feel good about that..

Just sharing my experience with all of you here..

and i'm proud to be a UTARian..

Proud cool any difference kampar and PJ?

Ah yes, i really treasure my foundation , lecturers were cool and pretty, and the best of all most of them stand out as not just a normal lecturer, but rather a friend, and a mentor. They really travel the extra mile just to reach out to students, i'm actually touched by their humility. Something which i don't see during degree level. The gap between students and lecturers is much much wider now.

Let's keep it simple.

May I know what's the difference? Is there any difference in terms of qualities of lecturers and classes? I'm currently planning to go for UTAR Foundation in Science, I have no transport problem going to PJ UTAR but Kampar UTAR seems interesting because of it's building structure and environment. That makes me wonder whether I should go to Kampar UTAR to experience new things like learning to be independent, what's your advice? Anyone there to share your experiences with me?

lol, I'm studying foundation in science in UTAR PJ, the traffic congestion there is severe, sometimes u need to take 1 hour to get out of the campus to Federal Highway. And then there is no parking around the campus, so u need to arrive very early, before 7.30am, to get a good parking. If not, option 1: park very far away, then u walk for 10 minutes to reach the entrance of UTAR. Option 2: double park, but it's high risk because the shitty polices always love to give us summons. Sometimes, u will be shocked to know that you have receive 2 summons in a day, which RM100 for each.

In PJ UTAR, the toilets are smelly, some toilet bowls can't flush at all, some doors can't close.
In study facilities, the library is sooo small compared to my secondary school, the projector in the lecture class is bad, sometimes it shows colourful lecture notes, the computers used in lecture are from dinosaur era, the canteen will be flooded with water while there's heavy rain.

For me, PJ UTAR is not my first choice. =.= It's kinda sucks, but you know, cheap things...
Anyway, the education quality in UTAR is very good. The exam is quite hard, and the lecturers are good too. =D

If I could I would have chosen Kampar UTAR for foundation, but I don't think I can study there due to some reasons, in the end I have only one choice which is to study at PJ UTAR...well at least I will study there for one year only, my choice of degree is at Setapak UTAR and I don't plan to drive there by myself, so I think it's still acceptable... XD Thank you for sharing your experience.

Mind to share your experience at there? I would like to hear about it.
