Hi fellow Tubians..
I dont know if you guys remember, but way back in 29-Jan in V6 or 7 I posted regarding the problems with my Tube.. it wont charge and wont turn on..
Sunway NCC blamed it on the charger.. because when they put their charger in my phone it worked.. unfortunately, I went back home and things were fine for just a day then the phone cant be started again.. tried the charger in my friend's E71 and it worked fine.. so its
not the charger after all..
Bcoz I'm very busy, only got time to go back to Sunway NCC the following week, and somehow they tried their charger and it worked again.. I argued with them that it only works now but it'll stop working after a while.. but the customer service guy said they need to take the phone / charger to check.. and if they take the charger, they need about 2 weeks to send it for replacement, and there's no spare charger they can lend me.. (
What BS is that.. how am I going to charge the phone then.. should I put the phone on a bookshelf for show for 2 weeks or what? If u guys notice the Ampere for 5800 Tube is higher than other Nokia charger... but that NCC guy doesnt even know about that.. I told him I got no spare charger and he simply doesnt care.. he said to go to Plaza Berjaya for faster exchange, but not same day exchange also... )
So after taking all that BS, I went back and my phone lasted for another couple of days intermittently being on or off.. the final thing that pisses me off was on 11-Feb, I turn it off when it had 3 bars of battery left to change the SIM Card, and then it wont turn on at all.. (which actually is good.. better permanent problem then intermittent problem since its easier to diagnose and fix, otherwise talking to NCC is like talking to TMNut Screamyx, they always think they know better but they know nothing)
So rather than going back to Sunway NCC with the lousy service, I went to AMCORP Mall 10th floor because the warranty card on my Avaxx set has that as the primary authorized service center..
in 1 hour I was at the center, I saw 5 units of 5800 being sent in for various problems.. scary.. when I ask the staff there is there lots of problem with this model.. they just smile and said just common problems like screen protector cover the front proximity sensor etc.. (but the ones that were sent in during that hour all had different problems.. so maybe another BS from NCC)
The front desk listened to my prob for about 1 minute then said its probably a defective motherboard and it would take 24 hours to change.. I argued that its a brand new set, a brand new model just launched a month ago, and already gave me weeks of downtime.. they should give a 1 to 1 change.. and the girl said only Nokia Careline can authorize that.. so called the Careline and of course they said something different.. they said Service Center tech has to check and verify if needs replacement 1 to 1 or not.. now they're pushing the ball to each other.. however the careline gave me a Service Request number that they are escalating and they inform me to give the SR number to NCC..
So in the end we escalate this to the NCC's manager.. (quite a nice person actually, at least she admits if she dont know and checks with her team) she said she'll check the SR with Nokia Careline if can change, but for now they'll change the motherboard and try first, if everything works fine then no need to change.. She promised she'll try and get it fixed on the same day, and true to her word it was fixed in about an hours time.
I guess they changed the board because my phone's v20 went back to v11 and now it cant update anymore

The product code also changed from 0570197 to 0570196..
Had an argument over NCC and Nokia Careline about the version also.. looks like NCC is totally unaware of v20 at all.. I was so angry that they dont even know their own product that I went and got a printout from both Nokia Asia and Nokia Europe about the v20 firmware availability for 0552438 and gave to the manager who looked surprised and promise to follow up with Nokia about what happened to v20 for the product codes sold in Malaysia (which of course I doubt she'll get back to me)..
CODE
Latest available software for Nokia 5800 XpressMusic, product code 0552438
Version: 20.0.012
Compare numbers
If this version is greater than your current software version, update now to get the latest features, applications and improvements. Go to Nokia Software Updater download
The Careline also doesnt know whats the latest official version for 5800 ExpressMusic, and they wanted to check the update website from my product code.. but I dont want to waste my time with that.. I can check myself on the website also that the v20 is missing now for both 0570196 and 0570197 but still there for 0552438 etc.. Confused over their own products? Great!
At least we know the firmware is still out there for other regions and it was not pulled back because it's defective etc.. so for those who have updated, I suppose you dont have to worry!
Well I'm not here to bash the Tube or something, I love my Tube and when it was working, it has served me well.. watched movies all the time on the Tube, my GPS took me even up to Manjung, Perak from Puchong when I was holidaying in Pangkor.. I put hours of songs in there, the WiFi has seen many Starbucks and McDonalds etc etc.. its been a good companion.. but I do believe that the NCC and Nokia Careline should improve their service because even though its a cheap lineup of their product, they still need to maintain their profesionalism and branding.. not all of us have the time and patience to fight through all their frontline BS and careline BS and get to the manager who can actually get something done quickly.. and in truth, we shouldnt even need to.. we pay for original phones that come with original warranty for "Peace of Mind" as per the advertisement in Nokia website.. at the first sign of the slightest problem they should look properly and professionally into it within a reasonable time frame.. I dont mind 1-2 days of waiting to get fixed, but 1-2 weeks to change a charger, with no replacement provided, is bad service!
If you feel like there's something weird with your Tube, send it for warranty before its too late.. if they insist its okay or no problem or whatever BS but u feel the problem is still there, ask for a reference number or service request number etc and if the problem re-occurs, inform the careline the exact same problem happened again as fixed in that SR and we demand a replacement (or at least a motherboard replacement) rather than just minor fixes.. because its damn new and if its defective without the user doing anything bad like throwing the Tube out the window etc, its probably a manufacturer's defect.. If my phone motherboard can mysteriously go bad.. so can anybody's..
P/S : If got NCC or Nokia Careline or Nokia managers etc lurking here, feel free to get back to us all regarding the firmware..
Cheers.

Very informative. Thanks for the great feedback on NCC.
