some spec from federal

Drift Competition
Federal's extremely successful UHP, the former ss595, has been repositioned and renamed simply as the 595. Slight technical changes have been made by FTC to the tire to suit the purposes and take the abuse of drifting competition.

Combat-bred. Performance-driven. For those requiring flat-out performance, no other tire grips like the 595, yet still provides for the basic comforts of everyday driving. Aggressive V-shaped tread and innovative silica compound maximizes level of adhesion, resistance to aquaplaning, and gives your car ultimate control in acceleration, cornering and braking. Unparalleled comfort in its class.

Features
1. Our latest tire technology, TTIC, for smoothness, speed, and safety
2. M.P.O. (Magnified Performance Optimization) technology – for consistent performance throughout the tire's life
3. Three Radius Tread Arc delivers even pressure across the contact area
4. Flange Protector protects expensive rims from potholes and curb damage
5. Steel Sidewall and Belts for optimum performance in all temperatures
6. Opti-Noise Technology for a quiet, comfortable ride
7. Aggressive uni-directional tread pattern enhances high speed stability and traction
8. Unique shoulder block design for predictable handling in different driving conditions
*
Have u tested your 595's yet?

moon, roy, james, gab,

how are the federals? overall dry, wet, noise level, comfort? sweat.gif
*
Dry - ok laa, for the price u pay. Starts to get edgy on the limit. Luckily im driving an FR tongue.gif

Wet - Wet grip overall is bad. Cuts through puddles nicely, but i cant seem to hold the car down in the wet. Easily loses traction, ive had a few close calls which called for long countersteers.

Noise - No complaints

Comfort - Better than my previous AD07's

Overall, im still happy with the set, its cheap and i can trash them without worrying about how much i paid for it. tongue.gif Though in the future i may want to upgrade my fronts to a more proven and stickier pair smile.gif

QUOTE(sleepwalker @ Mar 23 2009, 10:45 PM)
For ultimate grip, you have to use unidirectional. Also big fat wheels have to use unidirectional if not you will suffer aquaplanning like a speedboat on water. If you are running aggressive camber, there is no escaping from the makan inside syndrome. There is also the problem of running directional tyres because the outer tread direction gives you grip but inner thread is opposite direction and if you run aggressive camber you will be running on the treads that is in the wrong direction. When you hit water in a straight line with aggressive camber, you can be our new 'straight line drift king'.
