what he mean is right...tune to be more slightly inject more fuel = cooler engine...

you guys are seriously wrong doh.gif
although i cannot explain the concepts of pinging and predetonation, running the engine richer is not to stop your pistons from jamming. only running without ENGINE OIL will seize the engine.

he only mistaken about the piston jammed...but the cooling one is right...

and even then, it's not a proper answer to why you should run rich in racing.
cooler is one thing, but it also boils (no pun intended) to the internal pressures of the combustion chamber.

besides, you should have rectified him instead of agreeing 'yes you are right'.
such answers will only mislead other people into thinking that their wrong automotive concepts are wrong.

Sori my engrish not good...

it shouldn't happen when the block is sufficiently cooled by your engine oil. if a block is able to warp till that extent, it shouldn't be racing in the first place.

Hence, i dont see the actual major reason behind running rich during track race. But i would assume running rich is safer than running lean which of coz not too rich either. A safer buffer zone before it runs too lean and detonation/pinging happen and kill the engine prematurely during the race. smile.gif

unless piston and the block is made out of different alloy which have different thermal characteristic
if not it should not jam
