I'm one of those people got heart no energy do to charity.

But do not really trust alot of charity work being done because there is no transparency.
We make donations and the money just disappear.

Anyone knows of a better solution for people like myself?

Erm.. do like me... go to orphanage house or old folks house or those disable house that really need help and give them clothes, milk, and etc. Even little its ok as its the heart that counts and dont give money as you dunno where it will be spent. That what I did nowdays.

Easy... go direct... But the stuff yourself and donate it to the charity that you like... Old folks home, Orphanage, etc...

There is 1 on 21st February... at PJ. They need dried food like rice ,beehoon, cooking oil, eggs... clothes, mattress... Give it to them PERSONALLY to ensure FULL transparency ya... tongue.gif

Well, Benji, I was once like you too and worst, I was cheated by some people use the name of "charity" but they are not doing the exact thing as well.
What I do now is, I go to those old folks home, orphanage or any other caring home, look at their history, talk to the workers in there, those people staying there and also some neighbors around. That's to really make sure those Homes are really need help and also people there not using the donation for their own but those needs can get it.

If you think you want to cut off all the steps, then you can call to the Kebajikan there to ask for information. Sometimes, I don't entertain those walk around on street or shopping complex to ask for donation. I don't believe in those, not even beggars. For me, I only buy food and give it to beggars, if need money, I will go straight to the place. That's even better. smile.gif

That's just my opinion and also my experiences smile.gif

go for those reputable charities organizations....

not those at the street guys asking for donations, etc etc...build temple, for orphans, old folks, disabled, etc.... u wouldnt know that every ringgit u donated, it will only ended up few cents to the beneficiaries...

btw, for u guys info, real donation drive, doesn't really ask for cash donation on the street, mostly will ask u to fill up some forms, debit through yr a/c or credit card.....

if u think this is fake, think again... con men will not leave black n white proof thru bank stuff, etc...

think wise b4 u donate smile.gif

Maybe its better to donate food stuff or other items rather than $, as money is most probably easier to take out a small sum without anyone noticing

u may join voluntary charity teams such as the kechara soup kitchen or other organization which have volunteers team.

or u may just organize your own team...

u may choose either orphans, old folks home or others and ask them what type of help they need..

or with your team, maybe you may organize your birthday party at the orphanage and celebrate with them...

its up to you to plan...

i've heard of many 'charities' out there that's actually fake and do it to get free stuff/earn money.

how can i distinguish a real charity if i don't have time to visit the physical building?

i normally just donate to churches since i believe they are more trustable than organizations out there...

hi, i understood that alot of charities need food items, basic essentials, but the thing is, alot of charities had more than enough of all these items...what i believe is that the cost of operating is more needed...

imagine that an orphan / old folks / mental illness homes need more $ to run their daily operations... think of rental of place, electricity, water, transportation.... so thats y we can see that people running around asking for donations... but then i understand, u would think, is it TRUE??

what i suggest is that donate directly to the orphans, old folks, reputable organizations directly.... this may eliminate any possibilities of frauds, imposers... n middleman, etc etc.. which u might not know that every ringgit u donated, end up a small percentage to the end receiver.

even, reputable charity organizations might take things for granted... take example of NKF (National Kidney Foundation) Singapore, whom previous CEO (name deleted) whom getting paid SGD500k per year, paid 1st class flights and maintainance of his presonal cars from the company.....in short, using public funds for personal gains, watever u might think.

so, accountability, transparency is very important, especially for charitable organizations smile.gif

yeah, yr statement is true, so my 2 cents to u, get contacts of the charities, check with them.

even churches, lions club, leo clubs, rotary clubs, etc will organize activities and donated to organizations... most of the time, u can read it from the papers smile.gif

yes.... just middleman is making money out from those needed, which is commercializing the donations which meant for those needy people.

I saw some threads here which list directories of orphan, old folks, mental illness, etc homes. u may take a look.

Anyway, i hope u can support this LYNCF last month project, which they went to a orphan home named Siddharthan Orphan Home.

I'm trying to get my way to submit the home profile and LYNCF programs to the press, eg The Star, Sin Chew, Berita Harian, in hope to raise funds to get the home a van for their usage.

Once they accept, note coming newspaper!

She did mention that she has he heart, but does not have the ability to visit the charitable organisations directly because of time/work constraint.

I suggest that you donate to reputable organisations through
monthly donations via credit card payment to their account.

It is simple really, and you do not have to worry about the donations you gave because they are reputable organisations and they are audited for where do the money come from and to where is it being distributed.

Examples of organisations that I know of (I'm sure they are many more) :

1 World Wildlife Fund (WWF)
2 WorldVision
3 Majlis Kanser Nasional (MAKNA)
4 Care Malaysia

time isn't really a problem,

as long as u r sincere and good time management, it could be done, although i would agree with u that in today societies, is not easy to get people to do charity cause

Hi guys, why not try visit www.mvfra.org, this is the organization i chose to donate, if you interested call Vol Lt. Anita Lim give her your email address or handphone number, each time they organize any charity program/project she will notify you; i suggest you visit their web you will understand better, here you don't have to worry where your money or stuff gone to cos they will put all info on web with photos, and they usually will thank all contributors on web too

Cheers!

Cheryl
