had my 1sy fall today... arghhhhhh..... lucky alrite nothing serious...but there;s 1 guy fall quite hard at the end of the ride... hope he's fine...
arghhhh... just cant shake off the thougt to get a fork with more travel....80mm on single track.. langgar akar.....fly over handle bar... arghhhh.... durolux look nice... can travel adjust... hhhmmmm.....
*
ouch! Kesian...but you'll be a better rider after a few falls. You gotta scan 20-30 feet ahead and shift body as u approach obstacles. Better hardware doesn't mean you wont fall. I had a fellow friend who quit mtb because he got too many injuries. His leg full of scars until his wife banned him from riding. He has converted to roadie since. What to do...his wife love him too much and everytime he comes back with a wound, her heart hurts...ekekeke.

Isn't riding a roadie more dangerous? From rempits to taxis to lorries.
MTB doesn't necessarily mean have to hardcore wat.
*
He he...we are very hardcore here. Most of our riders here are very "close friends" with jagged rocky trails. I too have made friends with the rocks...LOL. I am already a very careful rider & finding it hard to catch up with them when going downhill on these dangerous trail sections...it's so darn dangerous. Cycling only mar...no need to risk it all. Some of them tackle such trails with a hardtail bike notworthy.gif .

Of course for roadie, also has it's dangers...but mtb still more risk of falling because riding offroad...rocky trails, slippery rooty trails, muddy trails...to sum up, environmental triggered. For roadie, do avoid those heavy traffic areas la...and ride with caution especially at junction. My fren almost kena sandwich between a trailer and curb during cornering because the trailer driver didn't see him mad.gif . That's why on road, we shud ride with caution and dont expect drivers or motorcyclist to "see" us smile.gif .

for MTB, accidents happen because of their own action, so crashes can be controlled by not riding too hardcore etc....

but for roadies, accidents are usually freak accidents. eg. car coming towards you after a blind corner, rempits, holes on the road at night etc~

its up to you to decide which is more dangerous...

disel is better but can too

Where to buy diesel besides pertrol station. Any specific grade of diesel that is recommended? Sorry ya...I want to get too.

QUOTE(M@r0R! @ Feb 10 2009, 10:40 PM)
to clean my chain smile.gif
how about wd-40?
*
I heard sifus say never use wd-40 la. Not good for the chain. I dont like the idea of getting that stuff seeping into the rollers between the chain. Currently, I just use a rag to wipe the chain until clean (but cannot get between the rollers), then re-lube it. Thinking of getting diesel and give it a good scrub.

QUOTE(Nightstalker1993 @ Feb 11 2009, 12:53 AM)
time to upgrade to a Shimano Shadow SLX/XT/XTR tongue.gif laugh.gif
*
Nak poison dia lagi ka? ehehehe. Looks like Lord Darkslide has no chance to recover from poison. He better go visit klinik "LBS" and get the "SLX/XT/XTR" treatment.

QUOTE(leinnz @ Feb 11 2009, 10:26 AM)
agreed.
ober dun sell ur bike yet.

dun u had any good times with ur bike at all?

u might not going fulltime MTB now but heck sure u'll ride it once a while to get urself away from ur band.

hehehe. jus a lil 2 cents.
*
Agree with leinnz. You should keep it for a while la. Maybe you can regain your passion after riding it a little more. Give it some time and dont quit so sudden.

Since we are in the topic on wheelsets. I too am shopping around for 1 set. Currently already shortlisted the components. I do have 1 question though regarding choosing the right rim. They've got 32 hole & 36 hole options. Base on what criteria should I choose? Does it mean if you buy 36h rim, you'll need to buy hub with 36 holes? May seem straight forward but I'm a dummy when it comes to these components.

So moorish, what components have you narrowed down for your new wheelset? There's a brand new XT wheelset at BBS.

the grade is the same for ur usage ler, Any diesel from any petrol station will do ler.. can just get a bottle and fill with some diesel.
IMO. diesel is the best degreaser... easy to work with.
*
QUOTE(sniper on the roof @ Feb 11 2009, 11:20 AM)
No need to scrub ler...remove chain (quick links are useful).. pop it into a bottle of degreaser/diesel/whatever you fancy... shake shake shake... let the chain lepak there fer a while... remove... let it dry/evaporate... relube... install... done.
*
I dont have quick link yet. Is the quick link same as SRAM power link? One more thing, is RM170 for a Ritchey WCS Carbon headset a good bargain? How much did you get urs for?

QUOTE(Nightstalker1993 @ Feb 11 2009, 06:02 PM)
yes, obviously you need a matching spoke h. rim with a matching spoke h. hub....
get the 32h one as 32h is more standard and 36h is much harder to find these days....
*
QUOTE(monkey13 @ Feb 11 2009, 08:42 PM)
like wat they said already..
36 hole rims are more tougher...bt its really hard to get the hubs..
i kno coz i own a 36 Syncros BigBox rim for my DJ bike...
*
Ok, thanks for the info.

QUOTE(ooikl @ Feb 11 2009, 09:48 PM)
I can order a 36 hole hub if want to.... HOPE PRO 2

That's what I thought...hehe. Mine too. I think all giant bikes use integrated headset. Rules CK out.

Bro iman,
Which rear shock has lockout? Propedal on Fox RP23 is something like lockout but not completely rite? Considering the size of the RP23, it cost RM1300! So mahal sweat.gif .

I've read some thread versions back (or maybe not this forum) that there is a bike shop in KL which specializes in pro tuning suspension forks & rear shox. Does anyone here knows what is the name of the shop and address pls? I think they will take apart and change/replace something in the shox/fork rite? This will void warranty rite?

The RP23 come with 3 preset configs out of the factory (stiff/medium and soft). Not referring to the Propedal. Bike/frame manufacturers choose which they want to fit on their frames. Is this true?

AG Suspension.
They are the authorised service center for Fox fork/shox, therefore should not void warranty as long as it is a Fox. They can do other brands also.
