Where to buy diesel besides pertrol station. Any specific grade of diesel that is recommended? Sorry ya...I want to get too.
I heard sifus say never use wd-40 la. Not good for the chain. I dont like the idea of getting that stuff seeping into the rollers between the chain. Currently, I just use a rag to wipe the chain until clean (but cannot get between the rollers), then re-lube it. Thinking of getting diesel and give it a good scrub.
Nak poison dia lagi ka? ehehehe. Looks like Lord Darkslide has no chance to recover from poison. He better go visit klinik "LBS" and get the "SLX/XT/XTR" treatment.
Agree with leinnz. You should keep it for a while la. Maybe you can regain your passion after riding it a little more. Give it some time and dont quit so sudden.
*
the grade is the same for ur usage ler, Any diesel from any petrol station will do ler.. can just get a bottle and fill with some diesel.

IMO. diesel is the best degreaser... easy to work with.

Any suggestion for crankset?

Stylo OCT or SLX?? Or any other suggestion within that price range?
*
hmn.. i'm eying at the slx... slx is just a little heavier than xt crank... but alot cheaper.

stylo... i read a review on one of the mag.... the slx hav a more reliable bb bearing and lighter package

Logically, SLX is the best choice but just considering what other alternatives are there out there.... 2009 Stylo is now revised with OCT (hollow ler tu) and ceramic bearings wor.

Also 2009 XT.. lighter by some grams. There's also a trekking version (48T but chainguard). They shud've changed the crankarm color  doh.gif

[attachmentid=816142]

This is 2008 XT... spot the difference?

[attachmentid=816137]
*
Din know about the stylo... hmn... wonder how much is that...
can see the 2009 XT got shave off some metal.. less metal on the chain ring... hmn.. hmn.... no budget la..
slowly i getting the poison...

I'm more leaning towards either SLX or Stylo OCT

2009 Stylo OCT + GXP ceramic BB --> 820grams --> ~NT5200 (roughly RM570 I think)

[attachmentid=816225]

Or the SLX which is around RM100+ cheaper.

2009 XT in Taiwan is around NT5800 - NT6200 depending on shop
*
hmn... if u can get the XT2009 at NT 5800.. then it would be better buy? no?
the stylo with the glossy paint, will probably get ugly after some wear...

SLX is about RM450 here...

anyway, i saw ur siggy.. u using XT crank.. why the change ?

how bout we post about ridings? for xc'ers instead, how do u guys maintain ur cadence for a long time.

for dher's, how do u guys counter the fear of taking a drop or gap.

like dat lah. smile.gif

instead of just posting components.
*
hmn.. yeah.. those kinda discussion will be interesting.
i'm interested in how to be consistent in pedaling on xc especially maintaining the cadence when going through uneven terrain while going up.

on the flat, seem to be easy and efficient with the right seating heights... but when going up hill, if terrain is very uneven, trying to roll over the roots or etc seem to always affect my momentum. hmn.. any tips and sharing on this ?

It's kinda hard to describe it on a computer screen while not on the bike since most of it is like natural reaction.

What I do (or I think I do) is that I will move my ass forward of the saddle..semi-resting (not actually sitting but not actually standing either) the clenched (to avoid getting sodomised) asscheeks on the beak of the saddle.....arms will be in a L position so it reacts to the bumps and stuff better compared with the slightly stretched position while on the flats..... and when sense cadence dropping... will drop to the "effortless gear".

Because my routes are fixed... I sorta know what speeds @ what gear and at what point I should drop to go with my optimum cadence. Of course, it takes about 15 minutes for me to get into this "optimum" cadence in the sense of warming up.
ps: will try to make this as poison-free and stomach friendly as possible but lighter rotating weight helps a shitload. tongue.gif

maybe can counter by thinking about how well insured you are and how your loved ones are going to have a pleasant life ahead with the compensations... ahahahhaa... Just kidding.. just kidding.

I have zero balls to do drops.
*
hmn... i try that... hahaha

QUOTE(ober @ Feb 26 2009, 12:31 PM)
okay. from my past experience.

what i do when i offroadd climbing is to set your gear at a speed u can maintain. let's say 2x4 would be the best for any terrain on offroad i guess. smile.gif

then god helps if there is no tire slips during climbing cause that will definitely lose the momentum.

of course breathing help you too.
haha. drops eh? easy ma. close eyes and hopefully ull not crash lah. wakaka.

no lah. do a drop with confidence and safely. but then those are the parts that always puts you on doubt to do a drop. it's just a matter that you know you can take it and do not think twice. hehe.
*
i did engage to the gears that i think would bring me up the slope.

however, sometimes even with uneven terrain.. going up is ok.. as long my wheels can roll over them nicely.
the situation when a bigger obstacle are in front... they just break the cadence... that is the time when i stand up and add on some pump to the pedal... but often with narrower track... i get off balance with little room to correct ... that when i fail to pedal up.

i suggest that you check out the models of each brand first... rather than deciding on the brand right now.
make better comparison on the spec and price.

consider the proton tbolt too

Kiara.. if you are really a newcomer then I suggest you go find some other singletracks (any dirt path will do) or unless you got a someone/group to guide you to Kiara, then can go. I'd say that the 2k trail is very smooth flowed except for some parts which I think most of us push our bikes up. It's technical in certain areas..
*
i suggest to go for frim... wider track for beginner.
single track have little room for beginner to make errors.

though i only been there just a few times, hope i can join too but usually have things on sat... more fun riding in group and fellowship

Yes there is a track that goes around the area between BMC and the hill where the water treatment plant is. I've never been there myself but if I.m not mistaken it starts somewhere just before the traffic light near the newly completed block od shops towards the Bandar Tun Hussein Onn interchange. You can also ask Simon (012- 659 3739) of C & C Cycle Trading located @ Taman Rakan or Khairi (016-6218501) of K-Fine Bike Shop in Sg Sekamat of places to ride.

I'm also like you...all fat & unfit...currently I'm doing the tarmac loop around Sg Long. I you see a guy on '08 Trek 4500, that's me...
*
hmn... where is this C & C Cycle Trading located @ Taman Rakan and K-Fine Bike Shop in Sg Sekamat?
some where around sg long? wanna service my bike and fork.

why not we try out the trail you speak of after i'm back from my trip.. nearby so it is convenient biggrin.gif
