I'm interested in a guitar for my Wii. I've played at friends before and i intend to get my own.
1) Anyone know how much is a standalone Wii guitar? (good as second player guitar) 2) is there original or alternatives? 3) can guitar play both GH and Rock Band? i heard from someone claiming they are not compatible. True?

u will also need another wiimote.. make sure your friend have another one extra for u..
i learnt my lesson the hard way.. bought wii system, 2 wimote.. and he GHWT full set... drum, guitar and mic...
*** nia seng... seller didn't say mic also need wimote to operate... so now can only
1. drum+guitar OR 2. dum+ vocal OR 3. Guitar +vocal.
can operate 3 together.... ^%#%

That's good!
Does the mic comes with the set?
Someone told me that he can't GHWT without guitar. something bout at a minimum he needed the mic, else can't lay the game with the wiimote.
I know that's possible with the previous version (Guitar Hero Aerosmith)

I know that's possible with the previous version (Guitar Hero Aerosmith) For the full band set, the mic comes with it. I haven't tried it yet, but i read somewhere that you can play with only the wiimote in the freestyle section. However you can't play it anywhere else with just the wiimote alone. Therefore, to me what it means is it is really no fun to play with just the wiimote alone. A minimum of at least one of the guitar/drum/mic controller is a must to play. I only have the guitar controller so far, and it makes a whole lot of difference!!! so i strongly won't recommend playing with just the wiimote alone.

To further clarify: Guitar Hero III for the Wii does allow playing using just the wiimote, by mapping the 5 frets awkwardly to B, +down, A, 1, and 2, in that order.
If you've played any of the GH games on the PS2, then you know it's also playable using the dualshock, using a lot less stupid mapping of the frets to L1, L2, R1, R2, and any of the face buttons; less stupid because you can actually access all 5 buttons using seperate fingers.
In GHWT and RB2, however, all this peripheral-less play option have been removed.
The freestyle mode mentioned is the drums half of the freestyle mode, where you swing your wiimote and nunchuk to simulate drumming, while holding different buttons makes you hit different parts of the drumkit.
If you're planning to get this game, just bite it and buy the original bundle. 3rd party guitars, if you can find them, are usually overpriced anyway, and they suck.
