Well, anything but not Kurnia, Kurnia sucks to the max, don't ever get into it! Customer service also very bad, call a few times only got people pick up the phone with a lazy voice.

Try MSIG, heard that it is very good,

hey, dun use kurnia, if accident, kurnia hard to claim money, by way many workshop dun want fixed for you if u r kurnia. i suggest tokio marine, cuz i using tis. last time my 2 tyre lost. Tokio marine free toll for me to my workshop. I never pay for any single cent.

I think Jerneh also not bad, at least they are efficient in customer service, rang twice, someone picked up the phone and they are ready to serve you right and help you. Not like Kurnia, keep on transferring call!!!! Have to call 3 times only got people pick up.... rclxub.gif

If u are driving Honda,
it will be either Tokio Marine, Mitsui Sumitomo, Asia or UniAsia.

I must say UniAsia/AIG are pretty good, at least they pretty fair to all workshops. Unlike Kurnia insurance, but somehow heard they are getting better as after newly appointed CEO, system changed. Still their reputation already tarnished.

Can I ask question about car insurance.

Do you really get good treatment/or is it easy to claim your money from them?
AFAIK when they sell insurance all kinds of sweet talk, then if you want to claim take forever.

So, I now use third party and whichever one I can get at that time. Cheapest too. Only because its needed to drive/ride the vehicle.

Probably my choice of next change, even the workshop panel people also said MSIG is very fast, they ask me to use MSIG for quicker claim. Avoid Kurnia eventhough it is a BIT cheaper.

Guys, I'm on the verge on renewing my car Insurance & roadtax and I tried getting a quote via MyEG. They are offering KURNIA (will definitely not take that), MAA Takaful, Etiqa & RHB.

Which of those above are recommended for car insurance? The package being offered by MyEG is kinda attractive actually. Thier premium + road tax renewal is way cheaper than only the premium being offered by current insurer, AmAssuarance.

Can I get some pointers from you guys. Thanks.

I have good experience when claiming for vehicle loss from RHB Insurance.

3 months from police report to receiving claims. Processing is fast since 2 months was spent waiting for police to close the case.

I've been using Oriental Capital Assurance for years now and have recomended it to many friends and family. All have had good feel about them. Very honest and easy to deal with (at least with me). They've got free AAM too which I've used several times. But to be honest, the AAM quality sucks badly these days.

Yup I also just getting a quot from myeg,
It was cheaper than the agent, but becarefull of the sum insured,
because it will take the cheapest, as my case,
My car market price from 24k till 28k,
the 1st time when myeg send me the quot it was very cheap than I ask about the sum insured
than only know is 24k, but the agent is getting me 28k,
and i request again form myeg for 28k,
any way it still cheaper compare to agent...
Now i also facing the same problem which company to take from 4 of it (should be 3 cause kurnia is out)...

Etiqa - i saw the etiqa web by maybank, it offer free towing to nearest panel workshop free.
RHB - web site no mention about the towing...
MAA takaful - no idea yet..

Any one have information about this 3 company, about claiming and free towing service...
too bad myeg not offering Tokio M.

+1 i agree on AAM review but had a few time call to them no problem but service is a bit slow need more than 30 minutes to reach me at OKR, but Penang AAM is not bad...
I had not use others so i can't compare as my claim and thing will be done within 2 weeks coz my mum working inside at Ipoh Branch... had claimed more than RM20k for myself only on my "War Car", no problem with all the claims as workshop also very honest maybe my mum know who is better and who is not... all accident within 2 weeks settle and out of workshop smile.gif

After some extensive research, I have listed below the quotes that has been given to me by various direct insurers, agents & online renewal services. Thus far, the MOST attractive package seems to be from TAKAFUL IKHLAS. I was intending to try TOKIO MARINE or ALLIANZ because of their international presence in the world insurance sector.

What do you guys feel about TAKAFUL IKHLAS? Any positive/negative reviews of them?

Would appreciate your feedbacks & responses.

Last year I bought Suzuki Swift for my wife. The car was hyjacked after 3 weeks. The car insurance company was Uni Asia. They refused to pay any single cent. They said, it was my wife's fault of not switching off the engine. Yes, she did not switch off the engine but she just went to the back of the car to check for the damage caused by the hyjacker.

We asked for help from FMB. Few months later, I read a book with title How to win the car insurance claim. Then I realised that it is sure we will win the case( if we bring the case to court ) because my wife was not away from the car.

I believe, Uni Asia purposely delay the payment. Sure they know about all passed cases and sure they know they suppose to pay for the claim. They simply gave a reason to delay the payment

After 14 months, FMB directed Uni Asia to pay us. Within 2 weeks we receive the letter from Uni Asia agreed to pay us RM70K( full amount is RM77K ). This made them earned the interest of RM77K for 14 months plus RM7K.

I am not sure which company provides the best car insurance. But sure, it is not Uni Asia.

i was about to ask the same thing.....

seems like a very good deal, 10% discount on top of NCD.

however, a friend told me their policy might have excess. but i just called them to ask, they said should not have excess for cars below 100k.

has anyone actually bought their insurance online under this maybank motor takaful?
anyone has experience making claims in case of accident/loss?

thanks!!

for those looking for 10% on top of your NCD; you need to approach the Insurarer DIRECT, and ask for the 10%

the 10% discount dont not apply if you go through a sales agent or workshop, pos malaysia etc

ALL licensed insurer comp in Malaysia is giving that 10% discount, its a BNM rule as they have ask insurer to stop giving free gift

OAC insurance company and one of it's agent are USELESS

this is a DIY service. u pay to to DIY.
Everything from starts to ... no end yet is DIy.

Last year case and i still have not got my cheque yet. Polis result also came out already after much chase by my own. No follow up by OAC, NO letter by OAC, No courtesy call by OAC. My claim from that sucker still pending after coming to 10 months now, i guess.

This reputable agent (20 years of experience) don't even want to deal with Polis due to "Fear". I hope they read my thread.. go bungkus !

So far no complaints. I never submit any claim before, but have called their towing service 2-3 times, quite efficient - just like AAM. Just pay for parts if any replaced (or buy outside), labour charge free - and they come find you in house or highway.
Also can enjoy 10% rebate during renewal. No need to wait until end of the year to get the rebate.

Depend on what car you are driving.
Manufacturers have alliance with insurance companies to provide special insurance package to their respective customers.

Honda, Toyota, Suzuki, Proton all have their own insurance packages.

Suzuki, MSIG and Tokio Marine.
To be eligible for SIP (Suzuki Insurance Package), you would need to renew insurance at Suzuki showroom instead of normal agencies/agents. Same apply to Honda/Toyota.

IMHO all Insurers in Malaysia are more or less the same but I personally prefer to go for international Insurers instead of local as the international ones have better management.

No problem for recond car but probably they would impose loading or excess.

Flood damages will be covered if u pay extra premium.

Any of the HIP participated insurance company would do, if you drive a Honda.

Do renew them at the nearest Honda showroom, any either of the insurance companies participated in HIP will give you the same benefit.

I have checked with Berjaya Sompo and Tokio Marine and confirmed that their motor insurance policy do cover flood damages for an extra premium. You'll require an endorsement to your current policy.

You can get an online quotation from this link

All of the insurance company must provide flood coverages.
For all of your info, motor insurance is govern by Bank Negara Malaysia.
All the terms & conditions is preset by BNM and the insurers cannot simply amend it.
For flood coverages premium, the rate is 0.5% of your sum insured.
Means if your car value @ RM 100,000, you need to pay additional RM 500 for flood coverages.

A lot of people thinking that insurance is a blood sucker while the fact is insurance company is a meat with plenty of blood to be suck.
You will know this when you are working in the insurance company.
I was referring to General Insurance and not Life insurance.

QUOTE(fong2751 @ Sep 4 2010, 09:13 AM)

*
The best car insurance (general insurance) will be the one where you know someone as real-friend.
Not Facebook Like -> thumbup.gif <- friend doh.gif
This is Malaysia. Kam-ching counts.

The best may not be cheapest premium. But when it come to claims, it will be less headache.
If I am in your shoes, I will get the claim approved in the first attempt.
2nd, I will be getting definitely 73k-77k range instead of 70k offered.
3rd, once all proper documentation is done, the claims should come out in 6-9 months. Usual waiting time for total loss cases.

By doing it personally at counter, you can get extra 10% discount.
i.e. total max NCD 55% + 10% = 65%

Otherwise, the 10% is given to agent/runners/etc.

i'm using Allianz. They are really good... I think having them from an agent is much more helpful in case of emergency. If you need my agent's contact i can share with you. He is reliable

Oriental Capital 's customer service is very bad. Already one year I haven't get my claim (small amount though). I even made compaint to their complaint unit but they never got back to me although promised me to revert within 14 days in their email.

Send official correspondence email.
Or hand-over letter at counter (chop & sign duplicate copy to keep).
To chase them to follow up, request feedback in 2 weeks.

Repeat every 2 weeks.
3 tries, strike. Go lodge a case with BNM, and show all the proof (above) that you requested follow up and no response.
Guarantee within 2-4 weeks, insurers will CALL you personally, and also issue official letter on your case.
BNM personnel may also call you within that period, to enquire about the status.

However, this is general assumption, that you case has nothing block/stuck somewhere, or irregularity/illegal things which may void the insurance.

Change engine, you need to inform your insurer. If later accident and want to claim, insurer can void and not pay single cent, since the car engine number (and capacity?) does not match what is stated in the insurance policy schedule.

Also, you need to go through Puspakom inspection and also change the JPJ card information.
If this not match, cannot claim insurance also.

If your NCD are 55%, and your insured value less than RM20K, then it should be around RM500/year.

This is my experience with Etiqa. Just involved in accident at 28/10/2012. Adjuster just come to workshop on 31/10/2012. The next monday claim was approved. But workshop said took 30days to fix my car.

That workshop is Etiqa panel workshop. Need to replace two part, radiator, that air cond thing and front bumper. I ask my regular workshop and they said can do in just 2 weeks. Dunno why panel workshop do so slow.

Ace Jerneh, owned by foreign company but operation by people from Jerneh.
One of the worst companies around when comes into Motor Vehicle Claims.

Avoid them at all cost.

Perhaps Radiator is found damaged but adjuster/Etiqa do not recommend the part.
As my experience dealing with Etiqa, most likely the adjuster will be the culprit.

Do write in a letter to Etiqa, CC to the adjuster company and the workshop, request for explanation why radiator damaged not being replaced (assuming its consistent due to the impact of the accident), ask for justification.

I have replied to you, avoid Ace Jerneh. Even though the company is owned by Kuok family currently, it isn't one of their good companies around.
The claim process is tedious, imagine if less than 5 years vehicle also given non-franchise parts?
Its actually delay the process as repairer requires to appeal for the claim, with the supporting letter of owner as not agree to install local parts on their vehicles.

They have all sort of tricks to cut their claim cost, whether in parts or labour. Repairer will not be able to absorb the cost, consumers will have to bear it.
Seriously I will avoid them at all cost, insurance companies like Tune/Great Eastern are no better either.
Those who have small market share in the market like Progressive, can avoid them too.

I would go for the main players such Allianz, MSIG.
And it also depend on what vehicles you are driving.

Nowadays franchise do have collaboration with insurance companies where their insured will not be charged any policy excess, longer period to have betterment applied on the parts that will be replaced, certain period of agreed values given to the insured, free towing up to RM400 or certain distance (depends on franchise agreement).

Something all of you might not agree, if your vehicle involved in accident and went into a panel workshop for repair. Who do you think the customer will be for the panel workshop? You or the insurance company?

Noted that Allianz had charging Road Warrior (RM70) package for maximum towing service of 400km (include return).

Uni Asia only allowed 3 times towing within a year. Maximum 40km. exceed need to pay per km.

If you are driving Honda, under HIP (Honda Insurance Package), free towing per trip is up to RM200.
For Suzuki cars, under SIP (Suzuki Insurance Package), free towing per trip is up to RM400

Some insurance companies don't even provide free towing, unless with an additional rider/PA package.

Kurnia does offer a PA package where all customers can purchase, even if your vehicle are not insured with Kurnia, free towing nationwide.

Saw your post in another thread that you are driving C250.

Ace Jerneh and AXA Affin are the insurance panels for Mercedez Benz. They would treat the franchise customers nicely, but to normal customers (eg not under franchise insurance package), Ace Jerneh is pain in the ass.

Do consider AXA Affin for your next renewal.

Allianz
UniAsia
P & O
Etiqa
Etiqa Takaful
Multi Purpose
Kurnia
Takaful Ikhlas
Zurich

I would recommend Allianz/Etiqa/Etiqa Takaful over any of them.
Allianz does com with agreed value FOC. Kurnia too, if the policy under Endorsement 87.

UniAsia/Zurich, you will need to purchase additional PA to enjoy that.

Share with me your friend's story. I will analyse for you, it might be too early to go into conclusion before discussing the whole matter.
There must be a reason why the claim cannot be notified. To notify a claim with Kurnia, you only require registration card, insurance policy, Owner & Driver IC/License photocopy, Police Report, Police Photos.

p/s : I'm not representing any insurance company nor being as an agent for Kurnia, but I do believe it necessary to get things clear, to let all people aware of it.

i must agree with you on getting specific information to know the whole picture so we will make a sound decision.
however, i do not have time to delve into this particular insurance company Kurnia, namely in the few past posts here, have provided sufficient foundation for me and to add on with my friend's incident.

What you mention on the registration card...police photos...
those are the process and procedure, documents required which i believe are standard, and every single company will require you to submit that.
One question that i pose to you is, why would an owner would want to delay nor be not in full assistance to Kurnia?
if i involved in accident, you want my grandfather's telephone and address i also will give you.
just do it, and solve it fast.

now, the thing is, why the insurance company is IN bad reputation?
surely there will be more than just providing the required documents...
i would guess that their execution and management is weak.

enlighten me if i have the wrong "assumption and conclusion" of this insurance company.

i rather focus my time and energy on non-bad-reputation company and find out the best deal, not sorting out and judging who right what goes wrong in kurnia, i am not their CEO.

This is Personal Accident (PA) package, very much different than car package. I'm not particular aware of PA package though, try to compare protection sum insured, etc.

As I know Etiqa/Allianz/AIG/AmG/UniAsia/MCIS Zurich/MSIG are among those fast in releasing payment.

Nothing. Insurance premium is the same for every insurance company as the premium is controlled by Bank Negara. What the insurance company can do is offer better freebies to attract customers. It cost you nothing to switch as the insurance auto expire if you do not purchase a new premium. You just buy the new insurance from another company, they will get the info they need from your current insurance company and continue/start your NCD if you have no claims.

hi guys, need help

i just bought a 21 years old car. I didnt know more than 20 years cannot buy 1st party (in case of Etiqa insurance) so now using 3rd party insurance from uni asia.

Is there any insurance company that offers 1st party for old cars like mine?

Or any way i can buy extra coverage to cover my car in case of theft, fire, etc?
*
I doubt any of them will take 21-year-old car into comprehensive insurance.

Most third party insurance nowadays, forced you to buy fire/theft together with it.

MSIG !

Insurance premium RM3k+

Last year towing alone : 7 times, furthest was Gombak R&R back to old klang road, not a single cent spent on towing and all reached within 45 mins

Last year change windscreen : RM3000, also claimable

Last december accident, their internal overlooked my case and delayed 22 days, claim loss of use : RM1000

so ... yeah MSIG can pakai !

Insurance can be extended to a perforate period.
If you are thinking of stick with the same insurance company, extend the insurance period from May to Oct next year. There will be another 5 months extension.
Then you will be able to renew roadtax for a year instead of 6 months.

how much amount can claim if car is stolen/lost

A fren confidently told me is 70% of amount insured. i checked with my Lonpac, they said is lower of market value at time of loss or amount insured. that said, it means 100% of amount insured ,right.

Pls confirm on this if we're wrong or both right (mean, different insurance company different % covered) , for car stolen/lost

Buy the insurance of your own car brand. If you are driving a Honda, get HIP for example. This is because betterment is covered until 10th year after your car ages 5 years old.

Assuming you did not over or under insured.

Assume car January is worth 100k market value.
You insured 100k.

Car lost in Aug. Market value is 90k.

Generally, insurance will offer you 70-80% of market value, 90k.
i.e. 63k-72k range. You need to reject their offer and negotiate with them. Unlikely you can get even 90k.

See how much you lost ? It is not fun for total lost.

Another option is to buy with Agreed Value.

If you are worry of amount that insurance company may pay u upon any total lost/stolen claim, purchase an insurance policy for your vehicle that come with "agreed value claused".

Insurance companies will pay you back the insured amount (agreed value) if your vehicle happen to be total lost or stolen, irregarding of which month the incident occurred throughout the policy period.

Agreed in this.

Honda vehicle better stick with HIP policy (MSIG, Tokio Marine, Berjaya Sompo, Etiqa, UniAsia). Such policy must be renewed at Honda showroom (not through any agents in the market) and must be sent to Honda appointed body & paint dealers for the repair work. 10years no betterment.

Suzuki Insurance Package, there are MSIG, Tokio Marine, UniAsia (must be renewed at Suzuki showroom only) will entitle till 10years with no part betterment, as the repair work being done at Suzuki appointed body & paint dealers.

Proton Insurance Package, a total up to 12 insurance companies, can be renewed through agents or showroom dealers, must be repaired at appointed Proton Edar body & paint dealers only. 8 years no betterment.
Allianz, AmG, Etiqa, Etiqa Takaful, Kurnia, MAA Takaful, Multi Purpose, Pacific & Orient, RHB, Takaful Ikhlas, UniAsia, Zurich

Honda Insurance Package policy, all the car insured will not be incurred any loading, excess, and will be provided agreed value claused (total lost or stolen) for the first 5 years of the car age. Sending the car to Honda appointed body & paint shop for any insurance claim body repair will enjoy betterment free for parts up to 10 years.
Free towing up to RM200 per case and breakdown services (jump start, change tyre) FOC [labour only].

You may ask about what is betterment? Refer to the attachment below. Unless you are always changing cars before the car age reach 5-year-old, else you want to know more about it.

Depreciation/betterment not just apply to machinery, it applies to automotive parts too.

If Proton, stick with one of the Proton Insurance Program participated insurance companies.
Allianz
AmG
Etiqa
Etiqa Takaful
Kurnia
MAA Takaful
Multi Purpose
Pacific Orient
RHB
Takaful Ikhlas
UniAsia
Zurich

Perodua
ACE JERNEH INSURANCE BERHAD
ALLIANZ GENERAL INSURANCE (M)
AMG INSURANCE
AXA AFFIN GENERAL INSURANCE
ETIQA INSURANCE
ETIQA TAKAFUL
MAA TAKAFUL BERHAD
MSIG INSURANCE (MALAYSIA)
MULTI PURPOSE INSURANCE
TUNE INSURANCE BHD
PACIFIC & ORIENT INSURANCE CO
TAKAFUL IKHLAS SDN.
TOKIO MARINE INSURANCE (M)
UNI.ASIA GENERAL INSURANCE
ZURICH INSURANCE (M) BERHAD

I would suggest companies like Allianz, Etiqa, AXA, UniAsia as long as they are one of the participated insurance companies.
Do look into the benefits such as agreed value clause, windscreen claim coverage (tint covers?), etc

I would like to ask.. i check online with my car year n model etc (vios, 2010 g spec), they agreed on a lower sum insured than the current insurance company im currently on MSIG. the insurance is expiring on 14/01/2014.

MSIG suggest on 66k sum insured, while i checked online on insuranceinfo.com.my, it suggest 53k and some other companies which is also lower than 66k.

Is it each insurance companies will have different sum insured for a particular car? Can i just go and opt for a company that suggest the lowest sum insured?

Perhaps you can refer to here as a guideline.
If any other insurance company offer you much lower sum insured amount, insist them to show a letter of that particular sum insured is sufficient and will not cause under insured.

Most motor vehicle insurance renewal will require just the previous policy, as all the info are stated there. Just obtain the consent from the owner before doing so.

yup, MSIG allow lower value but...

Figures are for illustration purpose

Agreed Value - RM 120K
ISM Market Value - RM 115k (min value)

» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

Insured is required to sign a letter if wish to insure for a lower value. As such, please confirm which value you wish to insure.

Someone need to understand the consequences of "under insured" if really wish to insure much lower than the agreed/market value.

Usually not more than 10% +- but with agreed value clause nowadays, I will go for agreed value clause, the different in insurance premium is minimal.

What are the advantages that I'll enjoy if I take Proton Insurance Package (PIP), against normal insurance?

Plus, how much is the differences between these two packages normally?

And if I were to change into PIP, can I still enjoy the 25% off after 1-year rebate? icon_question.gif

Most of these chinaman companies or small companies doesn't want to pay you. They make it very difficult to claim.
Don't buy from them.

Go for ETIQA (Maybank) or Tokio Marine. They are rich and can pay you on time.

Kurnia does have coverage for breakdown, who told you they don't?

Allianz and Etiqa/Etiqa Takaful are using Allianz Mondial Assistance for their breakdown service.

My car broke down, when I called Kurnia they said no coverage for break down repair. Only free tow within the area. If long distance tow need to pay

from my understanding they only provide roadside repair for up to RM130. Break down repair at workshop is not covered. Is there any break down coverage at workshop? can provide link?

Roadside assistance only covers free towing, roadside repair (battery jump start, tyre change). They do not cover vehicle premature breakdown (if under warranty, please refer to nearest franchise service centre, else tow to a shop that you prefer and pay yourself).

Long distance towing? Well most of them you need to pay, unless you pay additional coverage that cover much longer towing distance.

It might be American company but its being run by local, I would avoid this insurance company at all cost.

Hi all,

I'm just buying my own first car (used car), just did a car loan from Public Bank few days ago and the loan was approved.
Hi!

Here's the reply message i got from my Sales Agent and the message details actually from the Banker:

Peugeot 308 app Public Maluri, 55k, 3.42%, 9 years condition SI pbb a.c., hp life RM394.90.

My question is:

1. What is the purpose for the HP Life? And is this a COMPULSARY fees that i have to pay? (i asked my SA and he says because i purchase a 2nd hand car and loan below 60k, so i must pay for this...)

2. And there's another RM10 fees for activate an Auto Debit acc, is this also the one i must do?

Hello guys, I am about to buy a used car from a second hand dealer with cash. I'm looking for the cheapest possible insurance (third party insurance), however most of the insurance companies do not wish to even offer third party insurance. Anyone have any idea how do I buy one?

Loads of thanks!
