hi just got my iphone. put my SIM inside but it shows no networks. do i need to register it thru itunes for first time only then the network shows?

Im updating my iphone 3g thru itunes now... the speed is so sloww.. its show 10hours remaing .sweat. is there any other faster way to update it beside itunes?

Your iPhone 3G is official unlock unit or locked unit? If locked unit u need to jailbreak and install yellowsn0w from cydia. If official unlocked u can unlock it through itunes, just plug in the iphone, itunes will do the rest for u and it will show network after that

anyway, in my experience, downloading from apple is the fastest not to mention safest, u could always do a google on iphone 3g 2.2.1 firmware download ( if u are official unlock, 2.2.1 breaks yellowsn0w ) btw, u can choose to download first and not install

btw i just checked my iphone version it shows 2.2(5G77). do i need to update again? but then when i connected itunes, it prompts me to update lo

Lol ur choice, 2.2.1 is only just a minor update, with bug fixes to safari and sms i think, it was mainly an update to break yellowsn0w

Ur choice again, since yours is a official unlocked version, u can safely update it


Btw, even i am on official unlocked unit, i never bother to update cause i think its a waste of space and time and lazy to reinstall all the applications, again. your choice

1 more question im confuse... Im using offcial unlock phone and i JB it already to 2.2, Lets say nextime version 2.3 is out... should i do the following steps like how i JB my phone to 2.2 and will all my JB application be gone??

Example Scenario 1 :-
1)download version 2.3
2)download WinPwn XX
3)Use winpawn to update my phone to 2.3
4)will my JB software be deleted or i can safely update to 2.3 using winpwn?

Cydia apps will be deleted, only those from itunes will not

holy s**t... means i have to search and reinstall everything?? sienness... are there any application to auto backup/restore the cydia apps or something?

hi one more question. how do u guys transfer files between pc and iphone? it seems that sync from library not so convenient.. is there any drag and drop method to transfer files?

wat type of file? if mp3, video, pic all need to use itunes to sync.. else u wanna edit the system file u have to use software like DiscAid.. if i not mistaken

connect ur iphone, open itunes, then tick the bottom button called Manually sync songs and video... then apply.. then u can drag and drop songs into iphone
