I just tested the iphonemodem during the CNY was using it to skype my wife thru my mbp, but it seems that the connection can only maintain for a matter of less than 5 minutes video calls are ok has it to do with not purchasing the app? as it seems after paying 9.99 the only difference is no purchase reminder on the iphone
any suggestion?

RX330,
I did try it as well but never got to like it as my E71 proved to be better at doing this. Speed wise, you know la with 3G, kadang2 laju kadang2 lambat, susah nak cakap. Basically it works.

Is available in Cydia. PDANET, is a true iphone modem. No proxy setup is needed & it work with all kind of protocol services... U can turn your iphone in a Wireless modem or via USB cable's connection.. QUOTE(rx330 @ Feb 5 2009, 09:59 AM)

It comes with a trial license. During this period u can have full access on all protocol. If u did not purchase, then it will only allow u to use for port 80 services.. Means only web browser surfing.. NO IM, no pop3, smtp etc services... Just did a googlling & u can get a FULL license easily... But, pls buy it.. not difficult to create a Adhoc connection on MAC/XP/Vista... Give a try by clicking your MAC book wifi connection. look for Creating new WIFI network. then select Adhoc..... I never use MAC b4.. but normally it is there 1... If not mistaken iphonemodem is not a true modem software.. It uses proxy... Basically no need, if u disconnect via USB/WIFI connection. Then, the connection is lost. Or u can also turn it off..Just go to PDANET setting- PDANET off..For EDGE, can't accept incoming call when there is EDGE traffic transfer.. When no packet being send/receive. Then incoming call can get through.. QUOTE(rx330 @ Feb 6 2009, 12:31 PM) hmm, if incoming call, will it affect anything? and do i need or is there a way to shut pdanet after i use it? Yes..big different, iphonemodem is a proxy type.Means the app u use must support proxy connection. Not all app today support proxy connection.A good example is VPN client.U can't connect your iPhone VPN tunnel via proxy.PDANET is a true modem software that support all protocols QUOTE(harmeet15 @ Feb 7 2009, 12:03 AM) i just started using iphonemodem... must say...very easy 2 set-up n easy 2 use also... just wondering wats da diff between da paid version...

Ya..Windows have a better hand with the option to use the USB cable.
You still can plug in your USB cable so that your phone won't run out of batt and i think that's what harmeet15 is refering too also.
