Hello guys.
I have a few questions to ask, that might have been asked and answered somewhere in between the 115 pages of this thread, but lets face it, it's too long of a thread for me to go through. So please be gentle with me laugh.gif

I am an 3rd year Mechanical Engineering graduate, I have 1 year of studies to go to complete my degree. My family has been in the aviation industry for years, but not as Engineers.

My query is, can I apply for LAME in airlines like MAS and SIA? The thing is, I heard that MAS is bringing in Felda SPM leavers to join their program, does that mean I'll join them as well? Seems like my 4 years studying my degree would be wasted then doh.gif

My dad, he works in Singapore. He's told me that in order to take LAME in SIA, you'll need a degree minimum. But the thing is, I love Malaysia yo! Anyone doing LAME in MAS? How is it like? And will there be a difference since I have my degree?
And also, what's the pay like once I've passed? brows.gif

I am also planning to intern over in MAS within the coming months, to fulfil my course requirements.

Yes u can Join their TAME course, but u will not guarantee to get job in MAS as other student.

Since u have a deg,it will help on certain area on certain module ie 6,7,15,11,3,4,5..once u passed all the mod,u need to get

your logbook signed, and during that your pay is the same as technician, coz what i understand is,they only pay u on what u

have, ratings, license if u have any,etc2..U should talk to Mr Shaharil Anuar, hes one of the staff in Dilog.I always pay him a

visit if i happened to be in SZB.

P/S:If im in your shoes, and love aviation, and dont want to go backward, try to apply to those big aviation company, ie CFM,GE,EADS(parent company for airbus, eurocopter, sigma, astrium) etc2..
Good Luck.  wink.gif

TAME=Trainie Aircraft Maintenance Eng
LAME=LICENSED Aircraft Main Eng.

Huge diff between those 2..undergo TAME>Pass all mod>Find a job>get your logbook signed>LAME.

and it take years to achieve that..   biggrin.gif

Oh, why can't I just take LAME? laugh.gif

Edit: Okay, wait. I just saw the link hmm.gif
So what do you think I should do, after I graduate? I would really love to join the aviation industry, but the thing is, there're so many different people telling me different things laugh.gif

Okay, so basically I'll have to undergo 3 years of training in order to get LAME of a certain category, right? And with more training and experience, I'll get to work on different aircrafts?

I hope you don't mind me asking you this, what's the best career choice for a Mechanical Engineering fresh graduate that wants to branch into the aviation industry? Obviously I'm gonna be starting of with an internship with MAS or Eurocopter. I heard that MAS doesn't pay their interns, but that's not a problem to me. I just want the experience smile.gif

Well, I would definitely love to join those companies, but eventually securing a job with them is not gonna be easy laugh.gif
I have another question, these engineers that join those mentioned companies, they do not need to have LAME/TAME?

And normally, those hard thing, are worth of trying.  smile.gif

LAME are those maintenance guy in MRO,training..the company i mentioned are more towards manufacture, design etc2..
*
Ah.. Do you know of any such companies that are in Malaysia, or have bases in Malaysia?
I am only aware of Eurocopter.

The reason I'm asking is because I'd like to apply for internship at those companies, makes it easier for me to apply for a job there once I've graduated smile.gif

I'm gonna be graduating with a degree in Mechanical Engineering some where around this time next year.
Age then: 23.

Too late to consider a career in this field? unsure.gif
And how do I go about? SIA's taking engineering graduates, but you'll need to hold at least a Singapore PR.
It's pretty clear on SIA Engineering Company: http://www.siaec.com.sg/hr/license_trainee.html

What about MAS? hmm.gif

really interested .

is it a singapore based company anyway?

I don't have any direct links to the program, but you can check out their website here: https://www.staero.aero/
Their requirements for the program are as follows (old advertisement): http://www.jobstreet.com.sg/jobs/2012/8/s/...165947.htm?fr=R

They take in Malaysians, with valid passport.
I applied sometime in November, they did not advertise it publicly though.

Yes, Singaporean company.

btw why you want to involve in this kinda field?

im living in malaysia and now im taking DCAM one, still got few modules to complete
i wonder if i have to convert it or what if the company agree to recruit me,maybe i have to contact the company for more detail as im still new in this kinda thing... sweat.gif

My dad's been in the aviation industry for almost 30 years, hence the interest is there.
He lives in Singapore, hence I consider it lucky as he will be able to guide me through.

Besides, I have always been open to field work rather than a desk job. Benefits wise, not bad smile.gif

No my dad's more involved towards project engineering/ management.

Referring to the bolded part: That's what my dad's been telling me, get your licenses, type certifications, etc, and you'll be sought after. Tbh, I don't even know half the things he has mentioned to me lol but I guess I'll pick it up when I join laugh.gif
