Oh, why can't I just take LAME? laugh.gif

Edit: Okay, wait. I just saw the link hmm.gif
So what do you think I should do, after I graduate? I would really love to join the aviation industry, but the thing is, there're so many different people telling me different things laugh.gif
*
P/S:If im in your shoes, and love aviation, and dont want to go backward, try to apply to those big aviation company, ie CFM,GE,EADS(parent company for airbus, eurocopter, sigma, astrium) etc2..

Okay, so basically I'll have to undergo 3 years of training in order to get LAME of a certain category, right? And with more training and experience, I'll get to work on different aircrafts?
I hope you don't mind me asking you this, what's the best career choice for a Mechanical Engineering fresh graduate that wants to branch into the aviation industry? Obviously I'm gonna be starting of with an internship with MAS or Eurocopter. I heard that MAS doesn't pay their interns, but that's not a problem to me. I just want the experience smile.gif
*
yes for Cat A and B1.2 and B1.4.

5 years for B2,B1.1 and B1.3.

Like i said, try to apply those big company..I bumped into few job that require mechanical eng while doing some research few weeks back.Mech Eng is wide, basically u can go anywhere..ong,train,aviation,etc2..

Well, I would definitely love to join those companies, but eventually securing a job with them is not gonna be easy laugh.gif
I have another question, these engineers that join those mentioned companies, they do not need to have LAME/TAME?
*
And normally, those hard thing, are worth of trying. smile.gif

LAME are those maintenance guy in MRO,training..the company i mentioned are more towards manufacture, design etc2..

Ah.. Do you know of any such companies that are in Malaysia, or have bases in Malaysia?
I am only aware of Eurocopter.

The reason I'm asking is because I'd like to apply for internship at those companies, makes it easier for me to apply for a job there once I've graduated smile.gif

Theres a few,but i forgot the name..but they only manufacture some part of the aircraft..

QUESTION .

Can anyone tell me what's one's callsign (e.g: TAME, LAME) when he/she completed a LAME course in APR/DTS ? And please do add the sequential order in terms of what they do, become and the duration after he/she completed the course I mentioned above . Much thanks  biggrin.gif

QUOTE(jazzy939 @ Mar 25 2012, 07:25 AM)
I don't see any good arguements/reasons why one would need to fall back to a degree.
The demand for a licenced persons is high. We all know the market is flooded with degree and diploma holders. The DCAM licence is recognized as same level as Degree with Honours, thats the scale if you're gonna work in the government. Similarly LAME salary is way higher than a degree holder.
I know one(a girl) fresh rotary wing engineer starting pay is RM12,000. Do you want to waste time getting a 'useless' piece of scroll while the others are grabbing the opportunities? laugh.gif And these opportunities may not be there when you pass out later...  Think!

Hi Maryjane,
I know one company that put preferences ( they asked in the interview) if you have done Project Management courses, typically Check Management System. Yes, these are specialized course and can be costly (RM2K per head for 3-5 days course.
Other value added course would be, Radio Telephony, Supervisory Skills, Leadership Skills, Team Building, Problem Solving & Decision Making to name but a few...
The next question from you I expected to be, where to get these courses!, right? laugh.gif

My answer: Good question! tongue.gif
*
Hey u always one step ahead.. thumbup.gif

Ok,i did module 21 which is Effective Leadership in Maintenance..But i would be more than happy,if i can enrol in those short course as u mentioned above.

I try to check on our local institution in this case APR for those short course. It came out quite a few on their website.

Aircraft Sheet Metal
Apron Safety
Supervisory Skills
Office Management
Quality Management Program
Aviation Welding / Oil & Gas
Technical English With Aviation Application (TEWAA)
Maintenance Human Factors*
Maintenance Error Management System*
ICAO / EASA / CAA Requirements*
Regulatory Compliance / Start-up Advice*
Safety Management System*
Quality Assurance*
Aircraft Certification*
Aircraft Continued Airworthiness*
Aviation Research Projects*
National Aviation Authority System and Staff Development*
Airline / Operator Safety Review*

I really need your opinion on which course should i enrol in that can help pursuing my career. Is there any other institution that offer this short course ? I dont mind to enrol in 2-3 course if its worth of the money. smile.gif

maryjane,
good ground work there! thumbup.gif
honestly, I do not know any other ATOs that offers similar/ value added courses as per our discussion. Bear in mind that APR do not schedule these course regularly, as they are for 'on demand' only and/or there is a minimum of 10 registrations to warrant a class. Also the particular instructor may not be available for that class/course to run.
I suggest you call them to get a better 'picture'...
*
yup,i will give them a call or go there my self to gather more information on those course.

Sorry to intrude... i was searching for something on google and came across topic bout this LAME thing in LOW YAT... i'm surprised there are quite some interest in this field..... anyway.... Dear Maryjane... those course u listed.... most propably created by the training school..to cater for company.... company requested... they come out with the course to train the staff of the company.... as an outside... for an outsider..... those courses wouldnt mean much... i could be wrong...just an opinion.....
*
pls explain " those courses wouldnt mean much for an outsider" .thanks bro wink.gif

im just trying to be more "marketable" coz that is within my reach.I cant change the market demand, coz that

beyond my control.Sometime, while reading on this forum,i came across a thread that complaining, why he cant get

a job even tho he have a degree,or why his pay is too low. Those kind of people really need to start thinking how

to compete between each other, theres millions of degree holder, and what make them diff ? almost everybody

have a degree nowadays,so they must be diff to each other and do things that can increase their value, rather

than complaining the gov suck, malaysian stuck in middle income class, not much job to apply and the list goes on

coz those thing are beyond their control..haiz malaysian.. sweat.gif

maryjane,
Thank you . I am impressed by the way you looked at things 'differently' from the norms.
You ( the younger generations in general) have stop short of being competitive. 'Spoon fed' generations?

Many interviews I conducted when asked a simple questions like,
'Tell us why we should select you instead of the previous guy' or
' What else/value added things that you can offer me if I am going to be your employer?'..
These questions are seldom answered..

Please pursue this intent of yours and drop me a line if you need help, views or opinions..

Good luck biggrin.gif

QUOTE(thorne @ Apr 6 2012, 12:47 AM)
Maryjane, dont get me wrong...if u have a intention to attend courses to boost up ur market value.....by all means go ahead....it's good.... what i wrote was just my personal excperiance working in a small airline conducting and recruiting some technician or engineering staff. unlike big airlines such as AA or MAS.... we recruit by word of mouth.... and the requirement is usually pretty basic....

Before APR or Miat, we even recruit ppl without any qualification as technician and train them ourself  and quite a number of them are now working in AA and MAS without any qualification, they apply base on their experiance. nowadays the market is flooded with Miat and APR, it easier to recruit techcian with basic knowledge of a/c. and most of them we recruit has done their practical with us before. So in that context, if u were one of the applicants with various course and those whom did their practical with us before and that we know their capability during work, those guys has the advantage.
it's extremely competitive for the past couple of yrs in aviation in term of a/c technician. Best bet would be to concentrate on acquiring DCAM Easa lic, then with a lil bit of luck, life will be looking up from there on.....
In u r really interested aviation, Easa lic should be ur ultimate goal at this moment. that's just my view. wish u all the best.....
*
Hey bro,im fine with those comment and was wondering why u said that at the first place and u are more than welcome to critic,or give opinion.. nod.gif afterall,i look things positively.. smile.gif

I have few question to ask here..

1."Before APR or Miat, we even recruit ppl without any qualification as technician and train them ourself"
May i know who are u referring to as we ? Are u with any ATO ?

2."nowadays the market is flooded with Miat and APR, it easier to recruit techcian with basic knowledge of a/c."
I dont know about Miat, but as far as im concern,APR student will go for job placement right after they finish each level ? So in that case they will be familiar with the working environment..I assume, they should know basic knowledge of aircraft by then..Unless they dont have permission to perform critical task,or just become a tool boy ? And could u please define "basic knowledge of a/c" ie what u expect from someone new ?

3."So in that context, if u were one of the applicants with various course and those whom did their practical with us before and that we know their capability during work, those guys has the advantage."
Yes,they will have the advantage because they have established relationship with your company. What i meant is,2 stranger went for an interview, they never work or undergo that company training before, both with a degree, and has more or less the same cgpa, one enrolled with extra courses in regards to the job area, and one totally fresh from college ?

4." Easa lic should be ur ultimate goal at this moment. that's just my view"
Thanks for the heads up,im on the right path. smile.gif

Your reply is much appreciated. thumbup.gif
