How long did your last phone lasted? Mine 3years max.. Most of my phone.. Heh.. So far I'm very happy with N85 seriously. Compare to other model such as N86,N97,N96 and so on to all the latest N-Series N85 is better in the sense of design. Very slim and battery life is so good.. 9.5 out of 10.

Just that my number pad got scratches due to the slide..
*
i depends on one's preferences ..some will like n97 and it's qwerty keypad and much much larger screen.
some will like n96 or n86's design. in terms of design, i would say each N series phone has it's pros and cons and lastly it all boils down to user preference.

is n85 laggish? when i went to check out the phone..it was really laggy when i tried opening da gallery and using da camera... is it because of the 8gb memory card? or the one i played with is using da old firmware?
*
Try these methods that could solve your problem:

1. Format the phone (remember to backup anything that u want to keep like sms etc)
2. Format the memory card remember to backup any files that u want to keep)
3. Update to the latest firmware using nokia software updater. it's advisable to use nokia pc suite rather than n-series suite as it's more stable on both vista and xp (still being the most stable platform as of yet)

why only NAM version got nicer colour mad.gif
hope its a worldwide release. if not i'll just get our Asian version..
*
i think that nokia will not release the black edition for other continents because of
1. mass production of the original colours and the numbers of n85 still in the market.
2. it would also differentiate between NAM and other normal n85 (this is quite important for the US market because nokia doesnt want people scamming the us market and selling non-NAM N85 because it would look exactly alike. 3g on the normal n85 doesnt work in the us.)

QUOTE(touya @ Mar 24 2009, 08:22 AM)
hi friend... my phone at first serve smooth but lag later on(mean if i used it to read ebook or doing search on contact... it lag... or slow.... esp using it to read ebook... contact one only happened once)... so what's happen here?

my external memory is roughly 6G and internal memory is still 5.6MB
fyi, my ebook kept inside my external memory... is that prob?
and yet i kept a lot of ebook ... i think roughly 5-6 books or more... but the size is definitely small right?

may i know why it lag? how to solve it? i am damn bored with the lagging

i hate re-format coz i dont know how to re-format and need to send back to the shop

any other suggestion besides re-format? Actually what's goes wrong?
*
Move most if not all your ebooks into your memory card as the phone will use internal memory space for apps etc... that should solve or lessen your problem

Data charges as per EDGE or 3G?
cos if EDGE then it'll be free for me, currently using DiGi D'Campus plan tongue.gif
*
if im not mistaken it uses either GPRS or 3G. but im pretty sure edge is not used by the app, this is because gprs is widespread and 3g too.. edge is supported mainly by digi and it's not widespread ..

meaning when u hold the phone for sms and stuff the batt cover makes a creeking sound?

maybe try putting in small thin lines of selofan tape at the rin of the cover inside the phone to reduce the sound or stop it once and for all. seriously.

yup .. so dont worry. btw, if you are locating your current location, it wont be that expensive. but if you are navigating then it will cost more.

if you want free use the normal GPS and remember to turn OFF the go online option. but the lock time will be longer and can only be used outside a building.

smile.gif Hi All,

I'm N85 user too....

My D Pad was cracked a little bit. Is it can claim under warranty? I'm not so sure about this....
*
how long did u use this phone? ori or ap. if ori you should go to nokia care to ask em for a change. if it is a defect, a warranty should cover it. ap im not so sure..

HUHUHU...I didn't realized when my D Pad was cracked. My N85 is ZITRON set so I think I must go to Nokia Suppot Centre to claim for warranty.

I think the D Pad was cracked because my pocket's jeans really tight so "keluar masuk" pockets caused the D Pad cracked a little bit...

I just used N85 about 3 month. rclxms.gif Really Satisfied With MY N85

yeah nokia new designs which originates from n81 has this kind of hard/thin plastic that is an eyecandy but not too durable compared to older n series.

Photo quality is probably the most disappointing part of the phone. N95 camera is much better IMO

Anyway, I dropped my phone in Heathrow airport (badly) last month, and the screen got seriously cracked. I couldn't even turned on my phone then, and it took me a whopping RM380 to fix it (original set)

NOW here we have a staff telling N95/N95 8gb camera is better than N85. He's right. End of story. It's what I read in numerous reviews too. It's because of the aperture on the N95 being better than N85's and I hope that N86 will have a better camera not because of the 8mp but because of the variable aperture settings.

What is N85's camera bug? Afaik, there's no bug. imo i think the problem is the smaller sensor of the 5mp camera in n85 compared to n95.

New firmware updates will improve the camera's image compression and algorithm, but it will be minor improvements as the major deciding factor in determining a picture's quality is the lens adn sensor on the phone itself. Not the firmware.

So physically, the lens ca

Those problems might be a bug but usually it's either a physical camera defect or a weakness of the camera module itself.

Camera noise, white dots and lines could be fixed with later firmwares but keep in mind that even some 2mp cameraphones like n81 doesnt have that problem.

N81 has a problem of making indoor pictures or pictures with fluorescent lighting a greenish tint.. but that's not a bug. That is the camera's weakness. Auto or manual setting also the same. A bug can be fixed but a physical weakness is impossible to correct in this matter.

How to delete themes frm phone? Any tricks?
*
1. Where did u install your themes to? Memeory card or phone memory. I strongly recommend u to install it in memory card as it is easier to remove later.

Do this FIRST if u want to delete themes. If you can't then do kae7's directions.

Go to APPLICATIONS > application manager > scroll down to find the themes that u want to remove > press options > remove.

i am thinking to upgrade the battery to a higher mAH spec. What should i look out for?
*
higher mAh spec? yeah got but it's almost always china made and not original nokia. so if the phone is broken because of the batt, warranty void.

not advisable.

i know u post if before.. but did u tell him that it's original but in singapore? no you didnt

yes it is cheap but i recommend thinking twice if anybody needs a good warranty. cause it wont support the warranty in malaysia even ori. sing ori different

another thing, ask the seller if got probs can send it back to him for warranty claims or not.. if can good. he can send it back to warranty there in sing.
