Hello...i've highlighted some of the things u asked. I'll go accordingly.

1. Some basic checking of the poodle
  - the ears & feet- make sure there is no some sort of 'crusty' skin; it's a sign of mange
  - any part of the body - there shud not be any flaky skin (looks like dandruff) - most prob it's fungal infection
  - whole body check for any ticks (even when u have brought home the pup, always assume it has ticks already coz
    u cannot see the eggs on the body)
  - slap the sides of the pup's body to check for any coughing
  - lotsa black & smelly ear wax - most prob it's ear mites

2. I'm now having a thai poodle. i think i can let u know whether ALL thai poodles die fast or not in another one month. Kakakkaakak...

3. Price is not the only indication of quality. I got my son for only rm680 from a homebreeder.

4. 2 weeks guarantee on illness & death is BULLSHIT. U have to wait for 2 more weeks after the 3rd vaccine to determine whether ur pup is actually healthy. Parvovirus (very very deadly but there are some dogs who survived too) only shows signs from 7 to 10 days in UR house, not Malaysia. So if the agent/breeder gives u 1 week warranty, it is not enuf!!!

Preferable dont get from petshops unless u know the owner well. And not all home breeders can be trusted. Equip urself with sufficieny knowledge & see, judge, decide for urself.

Approx Medical expenses :

1. Vaccines - rm100 - 120
2. If kena fungal infection
  - Cream : a few ringgit
  - Malaseb shampoo :rm50 if i'm not mistaken
3. If kena mange -
    3-4 jabs (rm15 per jab)
4. If kena ear mites
    Ear drops : rm 21
5. If kena ticks
    - Frontline COmbo / Spray : so expensive but so little

Poodles r very prone to skin disease. My Thai poodle got diagnosed with ALL the four above yesterday. LOL...

Approx Grooming expenses (4-6 weeks once)

1. Basic grooming : rm20-40
2. Full grooming : rm60-100
3. Nice cutie baju : rm15-above 100 (depends where u purchase)
4. Not forgetting collars, leash, carrier, shoes, hat etc

Others :
1. bed
2. playpen/cage
3. health supplements
4. toys

RM450 is only for the dog. Then insurance is rm200. Those already in their shop costs above 1k. They have been denied stocks in Thailand so they cud possibly get from China now.

hey chris, u teach ppl to check this n that, end up u bot a dog which diagnosed with all that. lol. funny la u.
actually minor skin problem is ok for me as long as it is treatable. Boey has mange also when i bought her, but no choice i love her 1st sight. so i get her back and she need to be isolated for a month from Amos.

Damn funny hor? Yday i thot i won lottery - struck all the skin diseases. LOL...I oso got to know all these things yday  . When i bought her i only checked for fungal but it was only developed 2 days back - just a small spot on hand. Dr.MErvin shaved that part to apply medication easier. And the mange only a minor one so i quickly opted for injections first - dun wanna wait until last vaccine.

And when he said that after 3rd vaccine, somemore need to wait 2 more weeks to confirm healthy, i nearly pengsan.

I could try to contact the agent for an exchange la..but like u, i oso got 'kam cheng' with Blossom liao. I find her a very strong gal, easily adaptable to new environment, food & situation.

Since last year Chritmas, i planning to take one toy poodle as my pet.

So i searching breeder in malaysia through friend, internet & newspaper

Let me share my experience when i calling / email to breeder.

1) F@irland Petshop - Ms Ang.
    - A lot ppl complain to this shop
    - same as other ppl notice, RM450 is 3 month advance order, need pay deposit 50%.
    - If wanna get ex-stock, Pay RM900 without vaccine & dewormed. Additional RMxxx (if not mistake is RM200) for 2week warranty.


2) Klang - Ravin
    - Just called last week!
    - Can't believer breeder
    -  I ask "how old of the dog" --> no answer
    -  Do u do dewormed & vaccine --> Yes
    -  Do you mind i visit parents of puppy ?  --> ignore me (talk other topic)
    -  What color of poodle?  --> Any color
    -  can you give me your location --> Taman sentosa , Klang
    -  Do u do warranty with you puppy? --> No answer me

    ~~ After asking friend, he dont know, call me asking landmark
    - Called again,
      ** I : do u mind give me full address ?
      ** He : are you serious buyer?
      ** I : Sure
      ** He : When u come here
      ** I : coming Saturday (21th Feb) - I'm from Kuantan
      ** HE : Then you call me on Friday. My puppies sell out in 1 -2 days
    ******** in the end, can't get full address ***********

if you happen to read the previous post, ravin is known for selling sick puppies. Do survey more before decide. Do u have any budget?

well possible of getting below 800 without MKA but might not up to the standard of toy poodle (some) but good luck in searching and looking...

with MKA below RM 1000 impossible..most with MKA above RM 1800
