actually its a good thing they included all these "extra" features.

and if you look at it.. SONY still NEEDS to put all these features.

For Gaming Purposes

XMB OS - Game Navigation/Options
Wifi - Online Gaming
Blu-Ray - HD Gaming
HDD - Save Game Data
Bluetooth - Game Controls & Communications
ALL available ports - Saved Game Flexibility & HD

The Luxury of PS3

XMB OS - Linux OS
Wifi - Media Streaming/ Online Chating / Download Media/Demo/Games
Blu-Ray Drive - HD Movies/ CD/DVD/Blu-Ray Data
HDD - Music/Videos/Pictures
Bluetooth - Wireless Keyboard & Mouse / File Transfer (Future Firmware)
ALL available ports - Transfer any media in any fashion, HDMI ready

so you see all the features plays a BIG role in gaming thats why it is required, and why exclude all these features when the technology is there in the box! Thanks SONY!!

Somewhat... maybe.
If PS3 games were RM10 per pop, everyone would forget about the 360 here.

But what I'm saying is, if our currency is similar to the US(which will never happen for all the money-suckers in the government), RM60 per-game isn't all that bad really.
*
EXACTLY!

If our purchasing power is on par with US, Japan, Australia, UK etc, US$40-60 is a piece of cake.

even spending rm 200 per game for a ps3 game for me is quite a shock to the system , but then again , i dont buy games every month. i beg borrow or steal from ppl around me for games . games that i buy is the exceptional ones that i must buy based on my preference alone. in those countries , it is the norm to buy games at usd 20 or less for used original ps2 games , some are gems too. if i were to buy original ps2 games here at rm 20, my house would be full chock with em.

it's not im underestimate this kind of stuff but eventho the disc is priced about RM60-80, malaysian still opt to other version. the same happen during my involvement with local PC gaming scene. At one time New Era bring out Dawn of War at Rm70+. after that it been discontinued..i dunno what the reason but my speculation is low sales figure (and the local translation for manual turn people off)

yes...the % of people buy the ori stuff will be increased significantly but we can never getting rid of this kind of statement:
"why buy Rm60 game where you can get the same one with Rm5 or even free by downloading it from the net?"

Purchasing Power Parity play a part,
in your experience, it perhaps show that we Malaysians are people of lower moral / reponsibility sense?

Life's like that. besides, we've gone through this way too many times together already guys.

I'd just simply put it in this statement. The world needs both one another to coexist.

maybe...but for me, we still lack of "You get what you pay for" mentality.

it kinda sad your friends is the one who say those kind of statement..but it's more depressing when it's your own family say those words.

Correction

I was rather amused by the poor level of English used in the commentary.
It is hard to comprehend for goodness sake.

If the author would like to be a video game journalist, he should have mastered English language.

(Please correct my English should there be any error)

we are talking about the blog who uses big bombastic words over there...
the tone and presentation of the blog jz scream game journalism style article...
the blog entry is not some rant blog post or some personal oppinion that suit the use of colloqualism...
might i add, the problem with the blog is not about its colloqualism (it has only minor of such in fact) but rather the grammar and sentence structure...
for u to be shooting me for stating my colloqualism in my psot is totally out of the line...

Don't understand why SONY squeeze so many features in one machine....then sell it at high price.
Actually what gamers want is just GAMING..that's all.
blu-ray movies? what for? Gamers just want games. If wanna watch HD movies, would rather buy a DVD player.
Play movies with a gaming machine will shorten the lifespan of the lens.
*
You are wrong... Normal Blu ray player would cost about RM1,900.00 nowaday but PS3 only 1,600 and come with a lot of function.
If you seen blu-ray movie... you will spit on your existing DVD player.
