Hi I just purchased a PS3 80gb from SONY Style... paid the 12 mth installment 0% interest free with DS3 bundle... no additional charge unlink Sony Center that need to add in 3% more... thank to the guys here on the pricing guide. I have problem setting the connection on PS3 though... have 2 questions 1) How u guys know which NAT you are connected to? 2) do you guys have connection problem when u enable WEP encryption? Its strange, PS3 doesn't seem able to get the auto IP if I enable WEP, even if I set a static IP it will prompt me that DNS server problem. So I have no choice but to disable WEP then only it can work. Appreciate if you could shed some light into this. Thank you

QUOTE(msn83235502 @ Mar 9 2009, 01:12 AM) 1. test ur connection on ps3, it should show u the NAT type. 2. use wired. better. you mean at the Network Setting > Test Connection? strange mine didn't show the NAT info. Regards to the WEP, I change to WAP 1 encryption, and it works... but I can't manage to make the WEP work...

QUOTE(msn83235502 @ Mar 11 2009, 12:59 AM) yeah.. i got that kind of problem too.. really hard to get online play..dunno what happened to sony... new games cameout, old games got very bad connection.. u mean new game don't have this prob? I tot it was due to my modem/internet connection. But when I do a ping test from speedtest I get 500Kbits/sec. I notice sometimes my PSN id will dc by itself.

guys if I purchase a used PS3 game, is there any effect of the Region code of the game to PSN? My PS3 is R3. I saw some PS3 games which is on R1 and etc... my concern is that the game will determine which region my PSN should be connected to?

Thank you all for your input! thanks! Added on March 11, 2009, 3:54 pmQUOTE(vorchiel @ Mar 11 2009, 12:37 PM) the psn account region only matters if you want to connect to psn store. logging in using usa psn id to psn store will get you the usa/r1 store, etc. for online play, you can play any region disc on any region psn id. one more doubt. I readjust my question. How does the region code affect the region of players in the online game server (eg/ US/Asia)? For Example my PS3 = R3, then Game = R1, does my console determine the PSN server I should be, or the Game region determines it? This post has been edited by chriscym: Mar 11 2009, 03:54 PM

QUOTE(vorchiel @ Mar 11 2009, 06:33 PM) game/disc region connects to the server as predetermined in the disc, not the psn id nor the ps3 region. so normally r1 games will connect to american servers. in psn, i think the servers are not managed by sony but rather the devs/publishers themselves. maybe some first/second party gameservers are managed by sony. in some advanced games like killzone 2, you can choose which server you want to connect to. and for some other games (we/pes/mgo), they only connect to their own server, and dont have cross-region multiplayer. Just had my first online gaming with PSN playing LBP. Its R3, and the guy that played with me is from america... hmm strange... R1 & R3 together...but I find there is 1 sec lag response... kinda anoying This post has been edited by chriscym: Mar 12 2009, 01:18 AM

QUOTE(SSJBen @ Mar 12 2009, 03:39 AM) Quite a number of games doesn't have multiplayer region lock. Its normal. As for delays/lag, you're in malaysia. So I guess you know the answer to that. wow... so you guys experience the same lagging in games like killzone 2? This post has been edited by chriscym: Mar 12 2009, 09:34 AM

QUOTE(vorchiel @ Mar 20 2009, 12:03 PM) some restrictions are within the monitor itself some computers cant receive non-standard resolutions (like 16:10 monitors cant receive 16:9 signals, etc) and it must support hdcp in order to use hdmi -> dvi adapter. not all dvi-equipped monitor supports hdcp (most do support though). but hdmi-equipped displays must support hdcp (it is a requirement for hdmi standards) Thanks!

QUOTE(myuu @ Mar 23 2009, 12:07 PM) You can also try PS3 Media Server, which is specifically developed to serve PS3s. Comes with mencoder/tsmux, so you don't need to depend on installing additional codec packs. does this PS3 media server support RMVB? or any other media server is better?

QUOTE(msn83235502 @ Mar 25 2009, 03:44 PM) share connection. u connect to the internet using ur computer using the digi broadband. then ur ps3 share the internet using network cable. u need to enable ICS (internet connection sharing) at ur pc. I see... ok I checked with the DiGi people on this. There is some router with usb modem support can be used. I think a router for connection sharing is better. Looking forward to 3G DiGi. Thanks
