Just thought i should mention that the PS3 screws up your internet connection if you're using a WRT54G Linkysys router, versions 6 and up. Mine was version 7 (the sucky version) and i suspected it was the PS3 causing my frequent disconnections and i was right after checking online. To correct this issue, turn off Media Server and UPnP on your network settings on the PS3. No problems after that.

ecVK,
.
I had similar problems earlier that you have. What router are you using? What I did was I restart my router, then so suddenly it all works fine. Able to connect the PSN already. I think and suspect could be streamyx or PSN network is down. Since if you already can get IP address should be okay.
.
Btw, have you open all the ports etc...?
.
Hope this helps

Added on March 30, 2009, 3:28 pmHi all,
.
me again and sorry to open another posting. Reason being since I got another issue. I'm trying to turn my PS3 into a digital media port. Bought a 1TB external HD and transfered all my photos as music from my apple to the HD.
.
However, PS3 able to detect the HD but unable to view the files/folders. Why aa?? Anyone know why and how to solve this? PS3 has the photo app, but even with this, the pictures in my HD does not autoload.
.
Anyone successful turn it into a digital media center? REason for buying the 1TB external HD is because want to avoid clogging up my PS3 80gb memory...
.
Thanks

Just buy a ethernet cable plug your ps3 to your router. Install Java PS3 Media Server and Voila! everything in ur pc hdd can browse from ur ps3. Money for 1tb hdd alredi saved! smile.gif

Remember if u use external hdd for ps3 - it can only read fat32 format which is quite a pain if you have bluray mkv files

If you bothered to read the first page:

QUOTE
Q) Where to find user created themes?
A) http://www.allps3themes.com/
http://www.psu.com/themes.php
http://www.ps3-themes.com/
make a folder name "PS3", then sub-folder "THEME"
put those .p3t files inside, then install and delete as u see fit

U can select the ps3 detected external hd and press the triangular button, choose display all to browse the content in yr hd.

If u press round button to browser the hd, it will always display no content..

My CPU hit 100% doing the transcoding using PS3 media server, I experience lag also, I tried play around the settings but not working. It could be the CPU not powerful enough.

powerful pc means????

so far as i know if a pc can read any HD video/media w/o any problem streaming to ps3 wont be any problem.pc with pentium or whatever 2.8ghz above shouldnt have any problem when streaming to ps3.below than that stuttering will occur.
