Hi guys, I'm looking for a clarification, hope someone here can able to help me out.
My situation was, every time when I press quit game (specifically, Resident Evil 5) and of course it will return back to the user interface, my PS3 start spinning the disc very fast until I can hear it clearly (the disc is still inside the machine). By the way, while I rejected the disc, it comes back to the normal. Playing the game is just fine, no sound at all. So, what's going on? Why the machine want to spin the disc while I'm not actually access it?

Very normal.
There are quite a number of games doing this, MGS4, RE5, GTA4, and Uncharted are of a few that I remember right now.

There are a couple of reasons to this, but the main reason being that the BD-drive spins the disc to play the mini-clip when you start the game. Strange I know because how much is there to read a disc just to play a clip. Theres a couple of other rather technical reasons, but this is one of the easier ones to understand.

Finally, it isn't harmful to your PS3. Don't be so skeptical.

So the spinning normally for the small clip? But I tried before, even though I move to the others features such as music or setting, the disc is still spinning loudly.

The PS3 is *constantly* playing the small clip.
There are some unknown factors that I'm not too sure about, so I'd rather not bring it up.

U mean via optical it will make it support DTS HD or DOLBY HD on av receiver ?? I mean on receiver i only can choose pcm but when switch to DTS HD or Dolby HD it will get no sound, actually that is 1 speaker seller told me one... he said if want to play DTS HD or Dolby HD on av receiver, i have to get standalone Blu-Ray player, so now me very confuse about this, it is the sound quality will drop if using PCM compare with DTS HD/Dolby HD ??

PS3 decoded the lossless sound internally and directly pass PCM to your receiver..
that why your av receiver not doing any decoding on DTS HD or TruHD.
PS3 unable to bitsream to av receiver.. so av receiver wont not get DTS HD or TruHD...
just will get normal DD or DTS sound if you swtich to other mode than PCM smile.gif

get a standalone blu-ray player since it cheaper now..
get the help of forumer here to import one from US. more cheaper and new model too. icon_rolleyes.gif

Only worth it if you have a 7.1 setup or more.

5.1 wise, while sound distortions may be less apparent(if there is any that is), definitely not worth the money and hassle. Stick to DD and DTS.

i only have PS3 at the moment...
doesnt have any standalone player..
they say sound much better when the sound decoded by av receiver(if you have a good receiver)
maybe you could ask in here..they are expert

i hear the different between DD/DTS with DTS HD/TruHD
maybe you should try too..
definitely worth the money...if you play game and watch BD too..
if just play game only..dont bother about the DTS HD/TruHD

So the conclusion is if i want to have my av receiver to play blu-ray movie's DTS HD or Dolby HD, i have to get standalone blu-ray player and 7.1 HTS, right?? So i dun understand why after update the firmware to let the PS3 support DTS HD or Dolby HD, but we still cant play movie with DTS HD or Dolby HD with the receiver... doh.gif sad.gif

you still get PS3 to play DTS HD/TruHD..
just your receiver doesnt see the word "DTS HD/TruHD"..it will appear PCM...
make sure your setting in PS3 is linear PCM then it will have DTS HD/TruHD sound for you icon_rolleyes.gif

PS3 cant have the av receiver decode the sound because of hardware limitation..

Exactly that.
Not to say theres no difference, just that I feel a 7.1 or more setup makes full use of DTS HD.

5.1 is still all nice and well with DD and DTS though.
