Arr lets say I don't want my PSN id to be assosiated with my mail account...how am I suppose to do that?

As far as I know One PSN ID is tied to 1 mail account.

Create a new dummy email, update your PSN account to linked with the dummy email address. Now, your original email will be not be associated with your PSN ID. After that, you can even re-register a new PSN ID using the original email.

Q: would there be a problem if i left my BD inside my PS3 overnight?

for example i am playing a game, later on got myself tired and sleepy.
turn off for mr.PS3 and to bed i go without taking out the BD game inside my mr.PS3.
it is ok?

suggest inject the BD disc before turn off the console. Heard it might effect your lens getting weary though

Not really suggested.

As soon as your PS3 turns on, the Blu-Ray lens will start to emit its laser to read if anything is in the drive. If theres a disc, it'll read it and start the game if you have the auto-start game feature enabled. Even if you have it disabled, it'll still continue reading the disc for data to be displayed on the XMB.

In the long run, it wears the lens out faster. Its not significant, but just go figure everytime you turn on your PS3 you have your lens read something. It'll hurt.

I'm explaining it theoritically, so.... its all base on theory.

How a PS3 blu-ray's lens die can be many reasons, infact you'd never know why it even dies today when it worked perfectly yesterday. Its electronics, it comes and goes.

hang only for less than a second? if you log in PSN during playing..it does hang when someone (your friend) log off/in

that is... before you download update patch/version

Some info i compiled myself.

KES 400A

user posted image
here are some technical details

number of reflectable/focus transparent materials. : more than 10. Combi of cheap plastic and some very thin glass.
number of ICs: 1 (less than 2~3 mm ^ 2)
number of magnet : shud be around 3
number of motors: 1+1 = 2
number of springs: 1
number of laser diode : 3, 1 main, 2 side diodes,
number of resistor: more than 30.

possible failure reasons:
1. IC failure highly unlikely
2. motor 1 failure(which adjust the focus) highly unlikely
3. 1 or more diode failure. maybe..

other possible reasons,
1. electrical surge which may fry the super tiny ic
2. software/xmb problem which destroy the instructions set in the tiny ic

other stuff used to glue the pieces together:

1. Super tiny screws
2. Super Glue.. Yeah.. i mean it.
3. Plasticine .... (feels like it) to hold the main diode.
For this.. all i can say is: WTF?!..

result: garbage.

^ it does look like some fragile component. i'll be praying for my 60GB.

such a pity, cos my 12yr+ PS1FAT or 8yr+ PS2FAT is still kicking after much abuse.

I play offline. And how do you install gamedata? Just delete the old one and let the game detect again?
