QUOTE(kitonline @ Apr 6 2010, 10:51 AM) Hi alwajdi, how great working in Experian? It depends on what would you consider great working. The projects are tough indeed but we don't rush them like the usual small/medium companies do as we practice Agile methodologies (Scrum). So I can say that usually, 5.30pm is time to go home or chilling out at the recreation rooms. and yes, Experian Decision Analytics is a Software R&D centre. How is the working culture? No day night coding environment rushing for project? Or R&D? Thanks. |

QUOTE(sanosizo @ May 7 2010, 09:15 PM) hi mbc, im not the boss, but i'll answer on behalf since there are few definitions of smart casual out there, what is smart casual according to experian? how about jeans or khakis with collar tshirts or roundnecks? if all goes well, i'll be joining in july. thanks. I usually come to office with my jeans or khakis. most of my tshirts are roundnecks. anything that is casually appropriate for office work is okay. Added on May 9, 2010, 3:59 am QUOTE(macyhouse @ May 8 2010, 10:21 PM) parking space is really an issue here. the best is inside the compound. but I dont think there is any vacant space.usually people will park near the shoplots next to the Petronas petrol station but I doubt it will be long as the shoplots are opening for business. the safest place is the park and ride area in front of the cyberjaya firestation. but you have to take the bus or walk all the way to the office (it's quite far). QUOTE(kitonline @ May 10 2010, 03:09 PM) I have attended the second interview with the technical director few weeks back. IMO they are indeed seeking for software architect rather than programmer. The job position simply does not match with the job requirement. I can answer the questions but i think I did not go through because of my English. Anyway, I've learned from this interview. we are looking for people who are passionate about the whole software technology and development process. which means that you have to be knowledgeable but not limited to only to your favorite language. you have to know the best practices, which frameworks are most suitable for the task, the best way to solve a problem (design patterns) etc..etc..if you are only limited to your favorite language and code the cowboy way or the duct tape way, for sure you will fail the tests. before i joined the company 1.5 year ago, that time I only have 1 year working experience but I still remember my interviewers told me that my knowledge is at a respectable level for someone quite a fresh junior and was offered on the spot (I answered the technical questions paper in just about 10 minutes and was one of the youngest in terms of experience to join directly with the title of Java Developer without going through the trainee program). But I soon learned after I joined that I am seriously lacking in knowledge. I am no software wizard. I can say that I passed the interview because I read a lot about software development and play around with the frameworks. You can say that I am a computer geek. And my English isnt that good either. so I disagree about what you said that we are more looking for a software architect than a programmer, but I would rather say that we are looking for programmers that are passionate about software development itself. |

QUOTE(zefifier @ May 14 2010, 01:48 AM) Just to clear things up.If you guys came for PHP/.Net positions, the office where you will work will be located at the Ericsson building. The one that you came for interview is Prima 8 which is the office for Decision Analytics. Still plenty of parking space there at the Ericsson building. |

if this is the second time you go for the interview (in case you applied before but failed the test or failed the interview), i would say you should be prepared to answer more in-depth technical questions as your profile is already in the database (your resume, your test marks and previous answers). in other words, you'll be tested harder. i remember there is a question in the employment form which goes something like this: "have your previous application been rejected by Experian before?".
Edit: by the way, the positions have been open since last year. it's like perpetual hiring. we never close the position. For example, Java developers position we already interviewed more than thousand candidates but we hire only the best few. Recommended a few friend of mine but sadly they failed. And a side note, your employment history is observed too. Experienced people is what Experian needs. We have several graduate trainees but even after their months of intensive training, when I personally asked their opinion on the job, they say the work is quite overwhelming. QUOTE(wfhan @ Jun 11 2010, 12:54 AM) hi alwajdi, at the beginning, Experian only hires Java developers. This is for the Decision Analytics division.previously Experian hires java & php developers a lot. recently, i saw their ads on j'street hiring .NET /C# developers, just curious is this a change in targeted customer market ? (expanding business into ms-based customers ? or company direction ? I'm .NET/C# developer and sort of interested to join Experian. can help to forward cv ? hehe only recently we hire php and .Net developers. targeting microsoft based customers? heck no. we never cared about that. what's that supposed to mean anyway? i believe that technology are just tools and we should not be bound to it. the reason for the new positions are for our recent establishment of Marketing Services division in Malaysia which those technologies are being used in the products that they have been developing. Experian is a big company with a lot of divisions and each of them have their own direction but contributes to Experian as a whole. but sure, i can help forward your cv. |

QUOTE(amdy @ Jul 5 2010, 02:26 PM) Hi alwajd, best of luck for you. unfortunately, i am more to pure programming technical kind of guy so i cant advice you much on the post that you are applying. just make sure that you know Linux very, very well from simple server administration to complex chron job scheduling or access control, using the shell console commands or server hardening...all that stuff. that's all that i can help. Experian just called me this morning and I already accepted for a Technical Test on this Thursday for Linux Systems Administrator.I would like to get some advise from you, perhaps the question maybe |

Added on July 14, 2010, 1:24 pm thanks even i fail anyway the question is asking whether you are passionate about your job. it's like you love watching football that you can match all the player's faces to their names and jersey numbers or even recite their biodata. type of coupling desirable ->this question is ridiculous and cannot apply to daily work? since you said that, sorry to say that if I am a boss of a software house and you answered that to me, I will reject you instantly. This question is about basic software architecture dude and it is related to the job. as i mentioned before in previous posts, you'll fail miserably for the interview unless you have the passion for software development. even if you passed (false positive cases) you wont really be able to cope with the job after you joined. QUOTE(marvin_teow @ Jul 22 2010, 09:13 AM) hope that i can join experian, but i m fresh graduate, no door to getting in...all required MIN 2 YEARS experience... let me give you a piece of advice. go work somewhere else first. gain experience. have passion in the field. I'm telling you, it is NOT easy to keep up with the pace in Experian if you are a fresh grad. yeah people wont tell you things like "you're not doing good" but in reality, you are dragging and slowing them down. it's only up to you to realise it or not and to accept it or not.once you have a really strong base and deep enough knowledge in the field, then only you apply. another tip, most of those who come for the interview failed the most basic questions and a LOT of them have numbers in the years of experience. |

QUOTE(xAdax @ Jul 29 2010, 05:21 PM) yes. possible. but being a QA, you need to know all those things about QA testing for example: black/white/grey box testing, performance, profiling and so on. better if you know how to do test automation. |

QUOTE(dattebayo @ Aug 13 2010, 03:58 PM) if your percentage is too far from the passing mark, chances are none.QUOTE(kayweng @ Aug 13 2010, 04:47 PM) Hello, i get the call from Experian HR and will attend interview session on next monday at Erricson building... Experian is an equal opportunity company which means anybody can come for the interview. it's just the matter that you pass or not. In terms of benefits, I can tell you that Experian currently is nearly unmatchable. That is why it's hard to pass the interviews. Only the best may join.I am feel not confident already after saw your all post ..plust my previous frens also failed in walk-in interview session. I am surprised Experian called me about it.. However, i need to do well prepare ...any suggestion for me ? my applied position is .NET developer... what kind of tests? Actually ,what the benefits given by Experian ? that is good ? QUOTE(dattebayo @ Aug 13 2010, 05:01 PM) i got a friend's friend who joined in as management trainee at first, the test given to him was not really in technical, its more on IQ test, but now he's been transferred to Java development team. And he had almost zero knowledge in Java before joining this company, so, can it be deduced that the easier path to join Experian is via management trainee? you can say that. but unless you really can pick up the pace, my personal opinion is not recommended for fresh graduates to join. Java training, yeah easy. but when it comes to the practical: you'll be thrown into the real 'battlefield' straight away. Then after about 3 months, it's left to your team lead to decide whether you get to stay or pack up your things and look for other job. |

Do they use the same set of questions everytime? it's been leaked quite a long time ago. but still, 2nd interview is about explaining the answers. sometimes you'll be asked questions that are similar but on different situations. there are some people that attempted the test (same set questions) more than once but still failed (the bad thing is, they scored lower than the 1st attempt LOL).then again, even pass the test, there will be at least 2 interviews waiting QUOTE(MsApprentice @ Aug 15 2010, 06:46 PM) Yeah.QUOTE(kayweng @ Aug 15 2010, 05:47 PM) Hi,dattebayo .. there are people lives a lot far than you do. Haha, how about them are using the test is similar the Walk-In test... however, i feel it is not simple ... i lost my confident and feel scary..but will do a try .. JZ now i went to ericsson building from cheras.!!wow ,feel quite far and long path... do v increase our expected salary for petrol and toll .XD haha I myself from damansara. |

QUOTE(dattebayo @ Aug 15 2010, 08:48 PM) after seeing these posts, I am not sure whether I can handle the job well, I am not really a programmer person anyway, its just I have touched on .NET before. The good side of this company is the good environment, can wear smart casual for programmer team, and can go back before 6pm, from what I heard from friend's friend. That's the way it is in Experian. you're never forced to stay back late. but people usually stay back for the fun part (playing wii, foosball, pool or just chilling with colleague) and go back later. good in a way that the traffic to home is clearing up.. |

QUOTE(Feline_gal @ Sep 7 2010, 09:57 AM) Hi..I heard from my cousin working in Experian that there is a manager aka "K S" that he's very strict and not friendly. Kinda piss off some employees there because of his attitude. people with that kind of attitude are everywhere.Other than that, it is a very nice company and yes, it is hard to get in. But I would say in my own honest personal experience in Experian, all the good things outweighs the bad. the only thing that drives me nuts there is just the task itself. Not to say that I'm overworked, it's just that I felt that I'm lacking in the technical skills and most of the time I felt overwhelmed. But the best thing is, my teammates is always there to assist, and my team lead, she always give me constructive feedback. I actually left Experian a few months back so if you guys want to join Experian, fwd your CVs to the HR as I cant help you guys anymore or you can just fwd it to my cool ex-director here: mbcx4jrh. |
