General InformationMGO is mostly a medium-to-slow paced third person shooter build to let the players take advantage of a lot of tactics other than straight up gun and run. There are 6 games modes and a cap at 16 players. As of the date of this post, your only way in the game is through Metal Gear Solid 4 game itself, or purchase a Japanese version of the online counterpart.
Controls
CharacterYou are free to customize the physical appearance of your character, from the voice to the gloves. Just be aware that a single Konami ID can be linked to a single character slot in game and you cannot change the major point of your appearance without resetting all your skills and stats. So choose carefully or pay Konami $7 to get a second character slot.
SkillsThe manifestation of your mighty SOP powers! There are many skills to chose from. Most of the support skills allow you to share information on the battlefield with your teammate giving you a teamplay advantage (usually showing the position of the enemy), while the weapon skills make you reload faster and cut the recoil.
You only have 4 slots to pick skills. As you use them, your skills will level up, making them more potent. However, for the weapon skills, they will start to take more slots. But all is not lost, if you don't feel like losing 3 slots to your lvl.3 sniper rifle skill you can still chose to equip the lvl.2 at the cost of not gaining experience in it anymore. Most support skills will stay at 1 slot no matter the level.
Some skills combo open new abilities for your character.
EquipmentThere are 2 sets of weapons and equipment available in the game, with Drebin points on and with Drebin points off. With Drebin mode set to off, the game starts with limited types of weapons, and there's no customization for any weapons as well. With Drebin mode on, there are a lot more weapons to choose from, and vast customization options are also available for players to spend their points earned from killing enemies.

Players who wander outside of the battle area will suffer damage.

The alarm is functioning when the alarm icon is on.
Whenever someone dies, all surviving players will receive points.
In addition, players will also receive points whenever they defeat an opponent.
Capture MissionClassic capture the flag with a few tricks. You need to bring the flag back to your capture zone and hold it there for 30 seconds and when there are enough players in the server a second flag appear, you need at least one of the flag AND the enemies must have no flag in their capture zone for the timer to start. Naturally, having both flags make the timer drop twice as fast.
If both goals have a target, the timer is reset.
If the setting Extra Time is enabled and the winner is not decided within the round time, extra time will be added.
Base MissionFight for the control of several spawn point across the map.
The first team to capture all bases, or the team with the most bases when time runs out, wins.
Sneaking MissionIntroducing a third team (made at random at the start of each round) Old Snake and (when there are enough players) MK.2. The goal of this team is to knock out or put to sleep the players of the 2 other teams and steal the dogtags of 3 players without dying. Dying resets the dog tag counter.
Red and Blue must use that time to kill each other and, when they are bored, hunt Old Snake and his buddy MK.2 down. The round ends when Snake get his pound of dog tags or when a team kills him a specified number of times, or if the time expires first, the team that has killed more players from the opposing team wins.
Bomb MissionA battle to destroy or protect target areas on the map.
The attacking team will claim victory if they can plant time bombs in the target areas and protect them until any one of them detonates.
The defending team can win by protecting all of the target areas on the map until the timer expires.
The defending team can use Coolant to nullify planted time bombs or defeat the player with a bomb and then eliminate it by leaving it on the ground for a set period of time.
The attacking team can only have one bomb at a time.
When the bomb is eliminated, it will reappear at its original location.
To win the defending team must either hold the base until time runs out, or eliminate all of the bombs.
Rescue Mission A team must protect the flag, another team must steal it.
The difference between Rescue and Capture missions is that there are no re-spawns in this mode compared to capture mode.
Team SneakingA battle between two teams with different gear.
The sneaking team (stealth-equipped) must eliminate all enemies, or bring KEROTAN or GA-KO to their goal to win.
The defending team must defeat all enemies or keep KEROTAN and GA-KO safe to win.
IntervalA rule that allows an interval of rest between matches.
For health reasons, it's best to avoid long periods of continuous play.
Any actions performed while using this rule will have no influence on Level, Score, Personal Stats, or Skill development.
