I tried it with stock everything for the controller and managed to race it quite ok.

Everything maxed out and im happy. fps is very playable. Cept some fps drop at Nords coz of the distance draw.

Also some tips
*
Im on pro with all aids off....yup..hes rite. High speed lift will induce oversteer. Me layan the oversteer and get some nice slide points instead..seems like a faster way to take the corner la.

Hard AI abit notty if we want to overtake ....nudge u most of the time. At the start also they tend u block u if they have a bad start...heheh

Hmm, might need to race you one of these days to learn some tips about that. I always have problem with oversteer that I had to feather the throttle more than before

i am wondering where does all the things that ian bell promised to deliver in the interview go? feel like getting cheat. Now placing my hope at rFactor2
*
To me regardless of what he promised, NFS fun factor is back for sure. The cars handle well and its at the border of arcade/sim (with pro and all aids off). Graphics are good and really immerse u into ur driving. Complimented by great sound. The tracks are superb too. Great to see crowds, flags, camera flashes, billboards.....really adds to the feel.

got it , is the windowed setting.. now another problem, when select car or car preview, most of the car become dark cant see, then when the race start, cant see at all, the whole screen was dark.. before this is ok, is it the full screen problem?
*
Maybe uve accidentally set the screen brightness in option>graphics to 1.

i wonder dell studio xps16 can support max settings in graphic??3gb ddr3 and 2.83ghz and 512mb hd3670 graphic card...sorry newbies here
*
I think the graphics setting can be tweaked to make it playable in with low spec pc. Of course without all the eye candies. Easiest is try to off motion blur and lower resolution and AA.

*
yup...got g25 mappings already. Sensitivities and all i left it default too. Im straight from iracing n rfactor so instead kneejerk reaction to change controller setup, i would layan first coz my perception might be influenced by my sim habit. I wanna give Shift stock a try as SMS intended...........for now

Main je...heheh

But theres overall high speed understeer for most cars that ive tried. Instead of change d ctrller, i would adjust sway bars and frnt wings.

If u change the ctrller coz of that, other cars might give undesirable behaviour and u got to change it again.

edit: This version of NFS requires abit of simdriving approach i think. Altho the car canbe saved from a spin quite easily, the approach thru corners are very sim-like. I mean i cant carry mega speed thru a corner and be safe. Sim driving principle of slow in fast out can be applied here...if ure a clean driver that is. Or u can slide the car...which seems to be the faster way to go in Shift.

@Invince_Z - Nice screenies! No taiko la...only that is how i do it. Others may have different style.

So far I gave it 8/10...Gameplay is great. Lots to do in the game. Tier system is neat. Damage is according to which tier u are it seems. Im in tier 2 and damage seems to be more obvious in car handling compared to tier 1.

Hope they can do something with the replay cams. Great visuals are a pity with limited cams in replays. And savable replays pls....can make vids for utube hehe.

bought ori for this game...

first impression...so lag with my pc...e4400, 2gb ram, 4670 @ 1650*1080 with all high but no motion blur and antiliasing...no time try other setting

undriveable with that lag...driving feel like...err...toy car? (havent plug in my gamepad though and havent adjust the sensitivity)

sound system like cut and paste...other car engine sound louder than my own car...cant listen when to shift gear...when oppponent approach, suddenly loud (feels the sound very jumpy)

engine sounds like err...plastic sound and no bass eventhough subwoofer max d...

take so long to load...even when buying car...to view next car take 10 sec

tats all my first impression

Added on September 20, 2009, 12:45 ambtw, i played gtr2 b4...gameplay seems like no where near it (first impression)
*
U might wanna try lowering resolution. 1280 perhaps. I dont have any complain abt the in-car sound. I do wait for the gear indicator to turn red to shift up but if im familiar with the car n track dy, i wouldve known wut gear and wut rev im at and the sound would just help as a cue.

Driving feel with my wheels is great. Anything lesser would be err...less feel coz i think this title is not like previous titles. Its more inclined towards sims. But try changing difficulty and adjusting sensitivities.

Seems that wheel players are having a great time compared with kb players.

Maybe this game is meant to be played with a steering wheel.
Blasphemy sleep.gif
*
Yes. Priority should be given to racing wheel owners because apparently i think they invested more for the experience hence deserve more attention from developers.

I think it is instead, blasphemous on the kb players to think that racing cars and its handling should be made to fit buttons controls instead of steering wheel.

Time has change and more can afford wheels nowadays. In the older NFS2SE days, yes keyboard was the only choice. Only a handful have a wheel but then it was just analog on/off switch.

U want realism, u got to play it as close to realism as the gaming technology can offer. Only then u can reap the whole potential of the game.

I actually slightly favour Shift's physics, than GRID's one as it feels like the car is stick to the ground.

Just that the crashing is damn annoying.
*
Get to know the track first by driving slowly around it, pick brake markers (the rich graphics makes this so much fun). The HUD map also is a big help. Then get faster and faster lap after lap and know where is the limit of the grip of that particular car. Soon you'll go fast enough in some corners and u'll go off track...then u'll know uve gone over the grip limit. But check also ur approach speed and entry line. Those two are crucial to going fast around a corner.

I can assure u if u do this, crashing will be less frequent.

Can u list down the things that uve tried?

Try using stock clock for u proc, ram n gc and see. OC can cause instability too.

Real life it's the same really. Try looking at the trackside replay and you will notice the car is actually going fast. Just that when you are focused on getting fast, without having to look out for other cars coming from the front, you don't notice the speed.
*
True. Given the narrow FOV too. We can feel the sensation of speed better in real life coz we also 'see' the side of the road with our peripheral vision and subconciously know how fast we are going.

I dont want to draw any comparison of how any modelled car compared to the real car. There are limits on what can be modelled with the gmotor2 engine. Plus the fun factor have to be considered. I would just drive the car as it is and find strong points and weak points of the car and adjust my driving.

Im sure there are patches for games like this. Thats why i dont judge the game on its first release, considering this is a rushed one theyve skip the mouse menu feature.

If you have errors or CTD or BSOD, try and downclock ur proc n gc. I forgot to downclock after benchmark and i keep getting CTD, fatal error n even BSOD. Until after I restore my stable clock.

I had raced repeatedly with AI on Laguna. They are pretty notty. hehe.
If u tap their back, they will spin towards u and block ur way...taking u out with them.

And they make mistakes too...and most of the time re-joins the track in a safe way. And u can give draft them, they can sometime miss their braking point and go off track....

Almost feel that ure racing human players.

But if ure side by side with them into a corner and pass their car halfway, they would still take that corner and hit u. I have to lift off most of the time tuck behind them.

Few times also, when i was slowing down to a corner. Some cars obviously missed their braking point big time and shoot across me on the inside when i was abt to take that corner. Ive never seen AI make mistakes such as this. Very authentic human mistakes.

The game isn't even crashing...it just stops responding...and I'm not on OC as well.....well EA has done a good job telling me that they really fail now in making NFS...the game now will seriously die.....I did manage to pass all the training stages but once up to the first race..the game f***ed up. vmad.gif
*
Yes bro...even not responding. Does ur pc have heat issues? gc drivers updated (make sure no conflict with any version)?
