ATi 4850 user here. Somehow after changing the game's compatibility to Win 98, the game stopped crashing. Been playing for a week without any hiccups smile.gif

Right click NFS's shortcut icon. Select properties. Click on the Compatibility tab. Check the box for "Run Compatibility Mode For" and select Windows 98/Windows ME
