hi im new here.just got my diamond last nite. my wm is 6.1 and how do i update to the latest one?
and is there a faq on how to update my htc rom?can i update it directly from my phone via wifi?

thx
6.1 is the latest for Diamond.
HTC will not give 6.5 to the Diamond, the only way to have 6.5 on your Diamond is to flash a custom ROM.
Read 2 posts above your post to get custom ROMs and learn how to flash your Diamond.
And NO, you can't update or flash with wifi.

1) While pressing and holding the Volume Down and the Circle buttons, poke and release the Reset hole with your Stylus.

2) Wait until the format screen shows, then release the Volume Down and Circular buttons.

3) Follow the on-screen instruction to format your device.

So, still any chance of seeing WinMo6.5 on original rom instead of custom rom?
Never. Not on TD.

QUOTE(akachester @ Jul 28 2009, 02:37 PM)
And anyone have any step by step guide on doing flashing for the TD to the WinMO6.5? Need to learn for a beginner smile.gif I am interested to do it on my TD with the warranty period looming smile.gif And which version/custom rom of WinMO6.5 is the best out there at the moment?
Go to XDA. All informations, guides, HSPL, ROMS & Softwares are there.

Has anyone tried putting aluminum foil on the right corner on their diamond for faster GPS fix? biggrin.gif

I have just made one for my diamond but haven't got the time to test the GPS outdoors. I even have a version of the foil that covers the entire upper part till below the battery. laugh.gif
You be careful with that when outdoor hor. Don't get strike by lightning har.

So, you are saying the battery & memory consumption is worse on the WM6.5? I thought the first initial test was saying the WM6.5 helps alot in term of battery life  rclxub.gif
It's not because of WM6.5, it depands on many factors.
I'm on a WM6.5 now and my battery is normal.

QUOTE(akachester @ Jul 30 2009, 10:07 AM)
Well, which is recommended? I am seeing alot good things on EnergyROM WinMO6.5 and very very interested to get it but there is ALOT of guide over there in XDA, and i wonder, which is the best to follow?
EnergyROM series are good, I'm on an EnergyROM "Magic" now.
I won't tell you that it is the best nor will I recommend to you any, it's all depands on the user.

There are not alot, I've read all of them.
Try start with the stickies first.
Try THIS, THIS and THIS.

One thing i always mess up, whats the difference between Radio & ROM?
Radio: The phone part of your device. Responsible for your cell signal and GPS strength. May affect your battery life.

ROM: In this case, also known as Firmware. It's the operating system of your device including softwares and applications. Depanding on the included softwares & applications, may affect your battery life too.

Bro one more thing, im using Warhawk Rom and my memory seems to be insufficient when i wan to use any apps like Garmin or even the Cam. You got any solution? i thought of installing CleanRam but i dunno where to get.
What applications you got in that ROM?
Diamonds had very restricted memories. You may want to consider a lite ROM and install all your needed applications into the 4GB Internal Storage.

Also, set your "X" in HTC Task Manager to close program. Don't let them hang around in the background. laugh.gif

CleanRam.

Omnia Bro??? No offense but for me that phone was worst then diamond. Even it does not have lag issues that much but the response of the screen was really bad. For my opinion, out of all the Windows Mobile phones i used, X1 and diamond is one of the best so far. The HTC Touch HD is Superb.  thumbup.gif
No problem. It's just personal preference.

Regarding the screen respond, IMO, Omnia is on par with the newer TD2, which are better than Diamond.

And Omnia II is the best among all the present WMs now.

HD? HD is also only equivalent to TD2.

Go to a Samsung Service Center and test out both the old and new Omnias.

Oh ur talking about omnia 2??? Then i think it good. Because i used Omnia 1. The first windows mobile fon for samsung. Hehe.
No, I'm talking about the first Omnia, but it's still just my opinion.

Omnia II is just for comparison only. smile.gif

Anyway, we'll let fongzai92 to decide for himself.

@ fongzai92, choose wisely.

I was only giving you a suggestion, you don't have to buy Omnia.

Try out more devices before buying. Samsung Service Centers let you play with their display sets. Don't know about HTC.

Take your time and choose the one that you like better.

just got my diamond recently, but i use it without screen protector(cos ordering another high quality but still not arrive yet), i put it in empty pocket, but just now just about to making a call, i realized that are few scratches on the screen center. cry.gif
anyway to make the scratches go away or not so visible? notworthy.gif

others than that, its still a awesome device, 1st time using vga pda since my last pda o2 atom. biggrin.gif
After you put on the screen protector, it'll not be so visible.

You can also try to polish it (LIGHTLY) will a car polish (e.g.: Kit). And switch off your device before polishing.
