Nintendo to offer online healthcare advisory service using Wii
Nintendo Co said Tuesday it will launch a service to let users of its popular Wii game console receive advice from health care experts via the Internet. The new service will begin in April in cooperation with NEC Corp, Panasonic Medical Solutions Co and Hitachi Ltd which are developing applicable systems, Nintendo said.
Using the Wii Fit exercise video game that measures users’ weight and other data, the game console will send them via the Internet to doctors and other health care experts. The experts will then analyze the data and email health care advice to the users. Nintendo has developed an application software to transmit data over the Internet. NEC, Panasonic Medical Solutions and Hitachi will sell their systems to corporate health insurance societies and health care advisory service providers.
