Yes, I'm all for having the human element in the game, but the level of officiating has gone from bad to worst in recent times. Even top referees are fumbling more often than not, and the best England could offer in the World Cup was a ref who fecked up beyond all belief. Video replays could be a solution to all these problems, but a limit must be imposed on often it can be used. Maybe once a half. And only certain calls can be contested, like a goal line clearance or a sending off. Let the forth official have a good view of it, and let him radio his decision to the ref. Ultimately, its up to the man in black and white (not anymore haha) to make the final call. Look how much good it has done to the game of tennis for example.

What were the stats like prior to the sending off? It didn't look like Pool were clear winners to me (wasn't paying much attention to the telly). A draw would have probably been pretty fair. Imo, Rafa would never have gone with substituting Mascherano out for an offensive player had they not enjoyed a 1 man advantage. Sometimes you need the rub of the green to win games, Liverpool certainly had it yesterday. Its ON then.
