i think it's just middle of it's lifespan.. dunno if MS do want to release a new console at that time since Sony claimed that their PS3 would lasts for 10 years.

Rumours has it saying a successor to the xbo360 will be out somewhere in early 2012 or late 2011. So Valhalla xbox360 owners has 2 years in front of them to enjoy single player and multiplayer xbox live services to the fullest without any worries of machine disorders.

Indeed it is true, Playstation claimed Ps3 would last 10 years; until 2016, I reckon Microsoft would yet again have a headstart in the next Gen console war.

Sony 10 year lifespan implies that the hardware will have continue support of software titles. It doesn't mean after 10 years they will only launch a new console.

SONY PSX launched in 1995... End of life cycle should be around 2005 or 2006 (Hardware no longer in production).

SONY Playstation 2 launched in 2000.. ( Currently still in production but sticking to the 10 year life cycle, SONY should be discontinuing

it's production somewhere in 2010 or 2011).

SONY Playstation 3 launched in November 2006.... (from the looks of it, the successor to Playstation 3 should be on the shelves

somewhere in 2011 or 2012 thus starts another console war . Playstation 3 will continue to be supported till 2016 to 2017).

* I believe the launch of Playstation 3 was somewhat delayed (it took almost 7 years to launch) due to the development of CELL BE. It

shouldn't happen to Playstation 4 though since rumors has been saying that Playstation 4 will be utilizing an enhanced version of CELL

BE thus there shouldn't be any delay in development of the console..

That is the one best thing of a having SONY console.
Their console has pretty long life span, and they support it for a long while.

Even if its out in 2011/2012...i think for average joes like me would only buy them at least 2 years after that...launch prices are always i meant the

new next gen consoles...

Ya! this I agree. I bought my PS3 a year after launch...

Do bare in mind that launch units are mostly the inferior ones. I feel that these units serves as guinea pigs for manufacturers to upgrade & enhance the later revision consoles.

And my Wii is a launch machine, never had any problem.

That's not what i meant... If you look into PS1 and PS2, there are so many hardware revision (though mostly in the form of motherboard layout).

The original Xbox was discontinued support just after 4 years dude to the fact that they are working on it's successor (2000-2004). I reckon Microsoft and Sony Playstation have different policies. I think once the successor to the xbox360 is launched, suppory to the xbox360 will be discontinued so on and so forth.

But bear in mind, continued support of PS3, even after the release of a PS4 will be a liability to the Sony family.

My failbox360 died this month. So I too am searching for the price, not worry I know the garage sale.

After getting a new set, for sure I bukak the whole thing and put a usb-powered pc-fan on both heatsink. No matter its a falcon or jasper, the xbox360 cooling method is just messed up, not enough to dissipate the heat and thus the short lifespan

That is the way to go. But bear in mind, you have to fit in both fans in a correct manner towards the heatsinks, to make sure that the heat goes out, and so that the fan doesnt blow in the heat towards the machine,.

blow in or out makes no difference as older 360's will suffer 3rod. I hope my Jasper will last,if not have to make way for valhalla.

All should go for Jasper.
My old Xb360 with WATER COOLING(similar with those used in pc) still suffered fr 3RROD.
So, don't waste your efforts mod or add cooling fans, it's all useless.

and get it.

lol...that will only happen when xbox 720 or watever theyll call it comes out....

the original xbox was discontinued because MS making a loss for each console they produced. MS have to pay high price to intel and nvidia because MS didn't own the technology, unlike the 360.

xbox 1 is practically a pc inside.

try find it in garage sales-games..

Try wait a few months, if still no or only a handful of 3rod reports for jasper, than maybe it is the right choice to buy it.....and as insurance, install cooling

systems for it...
