i bought n79 two weeks ago and i feel that it is superb.
but my battery not last very long, cz mine is AP set and the battery is not the original BL-6F battery as stated in nokia website.
mine averagely last 2 days only.
other else, it is a superb phone to me!
and very nicely design and very light!
highly recommended! thumbup.gif

Hi, may i know how you identify the battery is not genuine nokia battery? can provide picture for comparison purpose or not?
i just bought an ap set black n79 last week, and the battery also only lasted 2 days. Normal phone call ard 30mins/day, 5 sms, 30mins music.

Hi, I want to ask where can I get the APAC version memory card original backup content?

I found some at chinese website, tried to download using their RaySource software but very very slow (4KB/s). Any other source to download it? Thank you.

Not this 1 lar, I want the APAC memory card content.

Coz mine previously is Taiwan firmware, chinese traditional. So I flashed my phone into APAC. The memory card contents are slightly different, and I formatted the memory card....

I just got the N79 today. Was curious to try it because it got such high ratings on gsmarena.

One good thing is that the phone is very light.  nod.gif

But it seems the directional pad was designed by Satan. The Up button on the D-pad is a pain to pressshocking.gif

Fully agree that.
What colour is yours?

Btw, my memory card already restored to APAC contents. The download at last completed after few days of downloading.

still have N85 though..

N85 have the identical features as N79, right?
Then why you want to change to N79? Slider problem in N85?

I don't know about kae7, but I already have an N86, but right now switching to N79.
Although the N86 has better specs overall, the main reason is convenience. The N79 is much lighter (97g) than the N86 (149g). It's also thinner. The candy bar form is also quicker to use, I don't have to push a slider like the N86.
*
Actually I feel unsafe using N79. tongue.gif
My previous Sony Eric P990 weights 150g and 26mm of thickness. And I used to keep P990 inside pocket everyday.

So that day when I come out the phone shop, I tot my new N79 is left inside the box since I feel nothing on my pocket. But in fact it is inside my pocket, just I can't feel it, what a HUGE difference of weight and size.

Now I has a bad habit of checking my pocket fr. time to time when taking public transport, scared my N79 lost without knowing it.

Hi guys, I think I have too many phones. So I've decided to sell my N79.
If anybody interested, see my Garage Sales topic.
*
Wow, that's fast! shocking.gif
Not even 1 week of using. Keypad not comfortable compared to your other phone?

Btw, I think the the bass produced N79 original earphone is too soft (maybe i got used with SE's Megabass?). Anyone here can suggest other earphone which has better bass effect? My budget below RM50. Thank you.

below RM 50 ..?
i'm using Sony Ericsson Stereo handfree HPM-85 (with remote control) - buy from hito1115
*
You bought your HPM-85 from that seller? Is the earphone really genuine 1 or "original" branded?

QUOTE(Andrew Lim @ Apr 23 2010, 11:56 AM)
Yeah, the N79 keypad doesn't feel very nice. The number keys are okay, but the D-pad always causes me problems.
Otherwise the phone's functionality is pretty good.
But I think my N82, N86 more than enough liao... too many N series phones...  laugh.gif
*
Seems like you having all the nokia "professional camera" series phone.
Initially I wanted to buy N82. Already like it since it launch, but still study at that time, no money buy. Now too bad I can't find the new set, so have to buy N79. cry.gif

Yeah the D-pad is really giving me headache. Always "over-pressed" the wrong button instead of the direction.

QUOTE(aspire2oo6 @ Apr 23 2010, 12:01 PM)
if u have better budget u can consider Nokia BH-503. Quite nice bass for me.
*
Errr, that is not called "better budget" for me liao. That is really really beyond my budget.
I will get a nice sound system for my pc 1st instead of spending over RM150 for an earphone. Currently my pc is using the build-in speaker (buzzer lar) of the LCD, torturing my movie enjoyment. rclxub.gif

Decided not to sell my N79 anymore.
No good offers and I've gotten used to the D-pad. tongue.gif
*
So what's next for selling? The classic N82? brows.gif
I think the N82 secondhand value is still high now.

Of course E71 is 3.2 MP non auto focus.

When N79 is 5MP with auto focus
*
U sure E71's camera no auto focus?

I used to teach a E71 owner how to use the auto focus, that owner never realized his E71 got auto focus and told me he missed his w810's auto focus feature. shakehead.gif

Software Version - 11.049
Custom Version - 11.049.53.1
Type - RM-348
*
What product code?
If yours is original from authorized nokia dealer, the product code is the same, which can be found in the phone body under the battery, something like 0577234.

If yours is AP set, sometime the seller change the product code in order to get chinese/malay firmware. The phone itself might be coming from europe. So you'll need something like JAF to read the product code of your firmware. You can change to other product code in order to obtain the latest firmware since yours is restricted to older 11.049. The latest I'm using now is 32.001.

mine is 0568152

got sticker under LHMS warranty with something like sirim (kelas cma 1998 CM)

i doubt it's ap right? but i just can't update cos of the code.

i've tried 0123, 1234, 12345 oso can't
*
Your N79 is white, right?
0568152 seems like APAC (Emerging Asia) version, I think don't have chinese language...
http://www.nokiausers.net/forum/n-series-d...scriptions.html

If you really want to upgrade newer firmware with chinese version, you need to use JAF to change code to 0568144, which is Malaysia white N79, and then use Nokia Software Updater to update it.

But there's risk of doing this. I had change mine coz it's Taiwan firmware which is traditional chinese. But after updated when my phone restart, it hangs! I tot it was dead, luckily after unplug and reinsert back the battery the phone working fine till today, with APAC Malaysia firmware. rclxm9.gif

You read chinese? If you can read chinese I can PM you a link, the guide is in Chinese.
You sure you want to take the risk flashing the phone? If not you can send to handphone shop ask them do for you, they charge RM30-50, according to my friend.
