n abt the satellite locking....
1. try satellite locking outdoor (preferably open field with no tall buildings)
2. turn on agps (u'll be charge for locking though)

as my unit doesn't have problem with locking, though it would take longer time to lock if u r in the basement or something similar

the tip is to be static/not moving yet while the satellite is locking, and preferably somewhere with open sky

once the satelllites are green then only u can navigate and travel, by then it would stay green  along the journey
Problem is whether I indoor or outdoor also can't even lock to a satellite. Both Nokia Maps & Garmin XT also shows waiting for gps. Even at the tools > connections > gps.
Using latest firmware. No other having same problem? Might need to go to nokia care center.

just an info. garminXT has a file named cardrunner that runs automatically to run another file that is linked to it. it runs when your phone is on..regardless of restarting

is uses battery and you can only turn it off with jbak taskman. but it will turn on again. it uses significant amount of battery without u noticing it.

so if you are not using GPS that much or if u care about batt life..then better not install garminXT latest version v5..the old version better cause the file can be deleted/turned off (reported to be better in terms of batt usage but performance maybe not that good compared to v5)

I guess the GPS still new. I let it on searching for GPS for almost 1 hour then I came back, it locked to few satellite. I didn't know it need to "warm up". smile.gif
After that, I just need to wait around 3~5mins to lock on satellite.

if u stand at outside.. u can lock down within 1 or 2 mins. 1 hour lock down is ridiculous, i guess u r putting ur hp inside hse or office right?
