Where to find cheap Hoya CPL ar?
An observation with my B+W, it's really hard to make it dirty. Even if it's dirty, one wipe and its gone.

Alphanatics, prepare yout camera!
Chance to view rare celestial spectacle http://thestar.com.my/news/story.asp?file=...7783&sec=nation GEORGE TOWN: Malaysians can witness a solar eclipse today from 4.30pm to 7pm. The National Planetarium will have a special programme from 4pm to give the public a chance to see the eclipse as it happens, the National Space Agency said in a statement. Although only a part of the eclipse can be seen in Malaysia, enthusiasts will be able to see the moon obscuring 52% to 82% of the sun depending on their location. A solar eclipse happens when the moon passes directly in front of the sun. Due to the relative distances, the sun would appear as a very bright ring behind the moon, resulting in an annular eclipse. “The eclipse will begin at about 4.30pm in Malaysia when the moon first touches the sun’s disk,” the agency said. The celestial spectacle will be more visible when the moon slowly covers the sun to form a crescent shape until maximum obscuration occurs at about 5.50pm. “At its final contact around 6.55pm, the moon’s shadow slowly disappears just before sunset,” the agency said. Geocosmic Centre of Yijing Meta-Science Research Malaysia academic consultant Dr Chuah Chong Cheng said solar and lunar eclipses during Chinese New Year were a rare phenomenon. The next such occurence would be in 2026, he added. “The same thing happened last year when a solar eclipse occurred on the first day of Chinese New Year on Feb 7 and the penumbral lunar one on Chap Goh Meh.” Dr Chuah said for those who are superstitious, the solar and lunar eclipses could mean “double jeopardy”. University Sains Malaysia’s Astronomy Atmospheric Science Unit lecturer Assoc Prof Chong Hon Yew advised people not to look directly at the sun but to use a solar filter when observing the eclipse or see its reflection in a pail of water so as not to damage their eyes. |

QUOTE(ah_Hui @ Jan 26 2009, 11:37 AM) i think shouldnt be a problem.. The sun's ray is very strong in NZ as there's almost no air pollution to filter. Once I left my cam on the grass for a long period and it got hot but no problem at all. just now was shooting under hot sun..can feel whole camera n lens was hot..! |

F11 is the answer iirc there used to be an f-stop calculator measuring the DOF at a certain f-stop and its corresponding focal length. trying to dig through my links. ah, here you go. http://dofmaster.com/doftable.html QUOTE(albnok @ Jan 29 2009, 12:27 PM) Cannot lah, later relatives say, "buy so big camera but keep shooting so many times one ar?" Guys,
I plan to buy a CPL for my SAL18250. When I asked a second opinion from my friend, he said wide angle lens will benefit from CPL. The effect seen on SAL18250 will be minimal. What say you? Whoever has CPL say aye! |

QUOTE(vikingw2k @ Feb 8 2009, 07:29 PM) Erk, I don't recall myself 'going on offensive'. I'm just curious of the CZ's performance hence I would appreciate it a lot if someone could post of side to side comparison between the Tamron 17-50mm f2.8 VS CZ 16-80 instead of saying 'ah, I feel this is sharp, that is sharp' kind of stuff. Afterall, it's for the benefit of the alphians too. At least you can just show someone the comparisons in case someone ask in future rather than telling them 'I heard from my next door aunty' kinda stuff. You've commented Tammy is sharper right? But you didn't post a comparison. So from where did you draw the conclusion?Well, if you choose to listen blindly. You can always continue doing so. p/s: No, I don't own a Sony Alpha anymore. If I'm still with my Alpha, I would have bought both, try and make comparison rather than telling people ' hey, I've just mildly molested it' or 'hey, someone told me it's sharper'. » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « Sound like 'ah, I feel this is sharp, that is sharp'. To me its kinda funny when you ask someone for prove when you can't bring anything to the table since you gave your comment 1st? » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « To avoid joining the auntie league, how about some reviews? No worries, I'm well aware that you ditched your A100 and made loads from it Going to hit the sack now as it's late here, nights. |

QUOTE(neo_lam @ Feb 9 2009, 04:33 AM) so from your opinion....wat makes u choose Alpha instead of other brands?? With the traits that A900 have, it's more for a scenery and studio photog rather than a sports and low-light photog.coz people always belittle Sony and claim our camera cant produce nice images.... but i think our Alpha still have some advantages tht others dont have.... Some pros love the battery grip that can be separated rather than taking a big FF cam on the go all the time. Remember these words: No one camera is perfect and wins in all aspects. Know what you like to shoot and pick a suitable system. |
