No no no. The conversation before was whether the proximity sensor uses the light sensing technology or the infrared.
I said it's infrared coz it's the most sensible thing to put. With a light sensor as a proximity sensor it won't be as practical since when there is no light, the phone automatically assumes that your face is near the phone when in fact it's only in a dark place.
*
yeah the 5800 uses IR and not light sensor. thus it can operate in dark/low light conditions.

QUOTE(borgkye @ Jan 24 2009, 10:26 PM)
I think they centralize the phone production in one factory rather then parallel the production within several factory.
Let say 5800 is assemble in china, then all 5800 in the world is from china.
Let say N85 is assemble in hungary, then all N85 in the world is from hungary.
*
then from what u said, it is safe to say that ALL 5800 is made in china..which is not good news.. although plausible because it is made of lower quality materials and mostly plastic unlike E71.

Nokia has 9 factories worldwide.
I think it doesn't matter where they are manufactured. All have to adhere to Nokia's manufacturing and quality standards don't they?
*
yes they do have to adhere to the Q standards. but keep in mind that maybe the factories in finland or other european countries has manufacturing qualities that superceeds /far better than the required standards, thus making those phones made in finland or other euro countries better in quality.

guys, i need help, i bought a 3 weeks ori used set by a seller here in lyn n he says it has alrdy been sent for warranty claim for the earpiece by nokia authirised service centre. when i test its ok but when i went home the earpiece problem occured.
is it possible for me to claim warranty for the set again?
n how long does it take to fix it?
thx in advance smile.gif

edit: the warranty seal is alrdy broken so i assumed it was really sent for repair.
*
1. If warranty seal is broken can it still be repaired?
2. Why did the seller sell his 5800?
3. If still got avaxx/zitron sticker, i presume that u can still claim warranty from any nokia care
4. the duration of fixing the earpiece problem will be about an hour to maybe 4-5 hours depends on which nokia car u go to. if they are efficient, they'll do it immediately.

thx

coz this 3 pin design make me feel like the imitation adapter i bought for my old phone..

i still prefer the N95 adapter.. small and nice looking smile.gif
*
3 pin VS 2 pin like n81 or n95/n95 8gb. of course the 2 pin wins because:

1. smaller and takes less space.
2. can be used in other countries where there's no 3 pin wall plug. (so no need to buy adapter when going overseas such as indonesia)

just an info. garminXT has a file named cardrunner that runs automatically to run another file named TSRAutostart.exe that is linked to it. it runs when your phone is turned on..regardless of restarting

is uses battery and you can only turn it off with jbak taskman. but it will turn on again. it uses significant amount of battery without u noticing it. some report that even deleting/renaming cardrunner, the TSR will run in the background eventually. it really drains your batt.

so if you are not using GPS that much or if u care about batt life..then better not install garminXT latest version..the old version better cause the file can be deleted/turned off

Yeah. u're on the same boat with me. Trust myself more than those so called "specialist". I sent my n73 last time to NCC. To the shock of my life, they juz simply kopek my housing. Until there's a big 1 line at the housing. It seems that they use alot of force to open the n73 and accidentally slip and therefore resulted in 1 big scar at the housing. This is specialist, so called authorised dealer. Our country still far way bhind.
*
so did u request for them to change your n73 housing??...man im angry vmad.gif

Nope. Dissapointed with n73 btw. Bought zitron at rm2200. Sold off after 2 months for SE k800 without topping any money due to lots of bug. Cannot receive sms, and kept on restarting even after sending to the particular NCC i mentioned. Summore the volume button got problem, and tat's the reason the phone need to be opened. N my housing got scare. Tat time k800 is around 1400. DAMN rugi. N73, the phone that i lost the most
*

steel type 5800 would cost more than RM2000 and will be damn heavy...I think that's why they will not roll it out
*
did u guys tried out nokia 8600 or versions of nokia 8800? now that's heavy LITERALLY....and price wise too...the heaviest phone i ever hold..even heavier than my previous n81. at a price of rm4k++ with only s40 software and 2-3mp cameras. but the build quality is so very impressive.
