6 months into my UMobile contract and I feel like terminating it already.

Reasons :

1) Limited 3G coverage (even in Shopping Malls)
2) Celcom's 2G is not working well. Using iPhone and 2G does not seems to work well together, while on Blackberry, it's working well.

Already send them an email regarding the contract termination. Probably gonna see how much I need to pay for Early Termination before i consider.

I left Digi bcs Digi sucks.

I was really surprised that U mobile got signal in areas where I cannot get signal when I was using Digi.

The other day I tested speed test on my Galaxy Nexus inside Summit USJ G floor near the escalator. I managed to get 12mbps download speed while Digi the best that I can get is around 1mbps.

So far I am happy with U mobile.
*
True, the 3G speed is really fast. However I really doubt the signal's coverage outside of Klang Valley, in our states etc. I don't know why but UMobile and iPhone just doesn't click well. On 2G, it's almost un-browsable. For Push Messages it's okay but not for browsing, especially in areas that does not have 3G.

What u will get with U28 is 1GB data and 300 sms only. The rest will be Pay-As-U-Used. Use more, pay more than rm28.
*
It's like an Internet plan with free SMS. But actually the 1GB data = unlimited, they don't charge you extra if you overuse, just trottle down.

Anyone noticed that UMobile is no longer roaming with Celcom on 2G mode? Seems like they have their own, UMobile2G already. I wonder if it will affect the coverage because Celcom's coverage was pretty decent. 3G connection forever limited, only in major cities. :/

yes, in fact roaming on maxis 2G is already possible

here are the GSM and 3G network search results
*
Does it make our connection similar to Maxis line if we roam on Maxis? Because certain areas, Celcom has totally no signal at all, what more on 3G.. If we select Maxis, our network will label it as UMobile.

of coz it will follow maxis's coverage instead of celcom. u dont have to select anything, it will automaticlly done for you . U Mobile ur refering to is the 3G. if it is on 2G/EDGE, it will show as umobile2g. btw im using iphone 4.
*
Not really. I chose manual settings instead because I want to test Maxis's line. I switched off my 3G connection, so should be on 2G. Now it shows 'UMobile', I assume is Maxis right? I'm on iPhone too.

under GSM, umobile2G = Celcom and U Mobile = Maxis 2G

under 3G, U Mobile = either the real UMobile or Maxis

this is all quite confusing as in future we will not know whether our phone is tuned to the real U Mobile or is roaming under Maxis 3G

however, if you do manual search and select network, then the real UMobile is of course the Home network (see my pics above from this morning's post and you will see the house icon in the 3G network list)

having said all that, i believe the network name shown is dependent on phone model - some older or simpler phone may show Celcom or Maxis directly
*
I believe this is rather confusing, wouldn't be easier if they just show Maxis or Celcom directly? Last week or all these while, mine showed CELCOM because I usually switch to 2G to conserve battery, only this week it changed to UMobile. Probably their termination notice with Celcom has been served but if they are roaming under Maxis now, why don't they just show Maxis instead right? Tad confusing here rclxub.gif

I am trying to make a huge decision to port my DiGi Ambassador number to U Mobile postpaid. How's the customer service record for U Mobile?
*
Their customer service is slow and it will take a few working days for them to reply to you.

Postpaid users, did you receive SMS from UM that they will be implementing E-Billing now?

If yes, do you know where to unsubscribe to itemized billing? Cannot seem to find the option in the portal.

PS: I was thinking of porting back my number to Maxis and continue my contract with another SIM for a tablet, is that possible? I still have a year left on my contract and I don't like the coverage for UM. At least if I use it for tablet, 3G speed still ok-ok la

Has anyone ever consider of terminating their contract earlier (postpaid)? I have 7 months left on my 2 years contract and I can no longer accept the horrible coverage on UM. I've send them an email regarding the early termination, as usual, they ignored.

Basically the payment works like this? For U28.

28/30 * 210 days = RM196.

Basically need to pay off 196 and I should be contract free right?

Outskirt only Celcom boleh pakai wei....

Actually, since U is now on Maxis, the only thing left for you is celcom. Suggest getting a prepaid from Celcom and testing the data coverage. Maybe your outskirt really too outskirt until tak da any coverage for any network?
*
My choice would be Maxis. And I doubt I will consider prepaid, not a fan of expiring credits. Usually the areas will be covered by Maxis, because my family members are using Maxis.

Ps, was using Maxis all the while, MNP to UM recently only
