Sigh, only recently I found out about this news. Initially, my first unit of Seagate 500GB 32MB returned to shop for 1 to 1 warranty within a week as I'm experiencing problems with bootup and formatting. I guess my first unit was bricked doh.gif

Now I having one in my home workstation that I stored most of my data and HDs. I wonder would it survive before I come back from HK to get another HDD to backup all >.<

Hey,hey...where u get that statement "firmware upgrade not available for OEM units" ??
I already told to seagate person that my drive is OEM..
But they still surely confirm my drive is not affected after they check the serial..
Wonder here whether seagate person "really" do their job to check my serial even they know my drive is OEM..

Recommended Firmware Update:
SD1A

So far, the firmware update doesn't work for OEM drives (P/N) ending with 303. And some claim the firmware update DOESN'T fix the bricking issue, just the cache issue. It's up to you to decide whether or not to update. You are responsible for your data.
I guess I put the wrong information, I shall edit my post smile.gif

i having problem in SD1A just yesterday. I bought since last december and it was SD15.. i updated to SD1A last 2 weeks ago...but now the hdd having problem.. hard accessing the drive. i benchmark the drive the speed running at 3.3Mb/s...i also copying the files from tat drive and also formatting, the pc will very very lag ..sometimes will auto restart.. i checked the COmputer Management>Disk MAnagement from Administrative Tools, Control Panel...the drive says it is at risk... but i check HD Tune, all seems OK...but the Seagate tool also fails some test on tat drive..
so, i can RMA it ?

Basically if your Seagate HDD failed on SeaTools itself, you can request for RMA already smile.gif
