I bought 7200.12 today. Checked at seagate website, warranty ended at 2 Jan 2014. So, 5 years covered.

Actually i want to buy WD Blue (Green only 5400 RPM...eco hard disk biggrin.gif ), but all shops at digital mall, only sell high capacity green WD or very low capacity Blue WD. Most shop still sell Seagate 7200.11 except All IT which sell 7200.12 (this model use 500 GB per plate oppose to 320GB per plate as in previous model).

Gather up my nerve and put RM190 for this hard disk. Hopefully not firmware probs ..... <pray hard>

Just for general info - WD warranty : 3 years.

Ironically, I need to buy this 500GB hard disk is because my old WD 250GB hard disk (2 years and 11 months, PC mostly 24-7) already almost died. Seagate Baracuda 7200.9 in the other hand still in its perfect shape (I use Hard Disk Sentinel Pro to evaluate my hdds health). Both HDD bought in the same month.

Tomorrow, I will call WD hotline number to claim warranty.. biggrin.gif

I test my WD which is almost died using HardDisk Sentinel. It said that my hard disk (according to SMART) has :

QUOTE
There are 20 weak sectors found on the disk surface. They may be remapped any time in the later use of the disk.
It is recommended to examine the log of the disk regularly. All new problems found will be logged there.

It is recommended to backup often to prevent data loss.
Then, I download Western Digital Data Lifeguard Diagnostic. Fail test (Code 07)

Same result test in DOS mode.

As I said, I cross check with Seagate official website, key in my hdd model number and serial number. Warranty ended at 2 Jan 2014. I was shocked as I expect they will only support 3 years warranty. I quick check at other forum and found out that 3 years warranty only applied to OEM hdd not retail one.

Hope this will clear some misunderstanding.

AFAIK, All IT close at 9+ pm. I bought today (2pm). What do you mean date code?

Should be 250 disc la.... then need to consider fail burn also tongue.gif

Better buy green WD to backup (low power usage, low temperature). No need 7200 RPM for storage hdd what biggrin.gif
