QUOTE(kurogane @ Jan 16 2009, 03:37 PM) DON'T APPLY THE AD14 FIRMWARE! It's a for a different model and version. The one i mention is this SD1A from this link http://computerappblog.com/2008/12/02/seag...irmware-update/ It's actually a fix for the SD14 firmware, which had a performance issue bug. It's not for the SD15 drives. BTW, it seems Seagate will do an official announcement on the 21st, so let's keep our fingers crossed. is this applicable to our 1tb drive? |

QUOTE(kurogane @ Jan 16 2009, 06:59 PM) Hmm, if Seagate tech support say can, then maybe can? I read on the MSFN forum thread that there might be chance of bricking the drive if you use the AD14/SD14 firmware, since it's actually "downgrading". Regarding the announcement, it's also sourced from German news site + reports of people from Seagate tech support. by the way, anyone using the WD green cavior 1TB drive? i might want to buy one to backup my current data on the seagate drive.... please advice for a reliable drive for me.... thanks ya! |

Wow new tactics for counting the power cycle... this is well known on notebook battery but i never know it will implement in the hdd as well... i think this is the only way they can kill the hdd so that business is keep coming in!!! damn cheater!...
By the way.... i already flashed mine to the SD1A! will the counter still running? damn scary.... but for performance wise... the SD1A really feel a lot better, it acts like a normal fast hdd again not like the damn SD15 that getting worse and worse the performance.... curse seagate!!!! |
