I actually wanted to buy the Barracuda 7.11 1TB but thanks to this thread, i think i made the right choice by buying a WD Caviar GP. Seagate, because of this, u just lost one ex-loyal customer.

Wah-lau...better not update anything now until they test their thing thoroughly. At least mine is still working at the moment, it might get KOed immediately if i update with a not-so-tested firmware released in a hurry. sweat.gif

If you don't update the firmware now, you also risk your HDD dying anytime before the next release. It's a personal choice.

Don't flash the SD1A firmware if you're using a 500GB Barracuda.

btw, I saw there is some model of 1TB and 1.5TB with firmware CCxx or LCxx.
It should be safe to use for now.

i got 1tb seagate barracuda but now still dont make any problem. planning to buy 1 more 1tb seagate, but after read this thread, i'll change my plan to buy other brand. thanks to this thread a lot.

but i'm still worry about my 1tb seagate i'm using right now. too many data to backup and i'm very lazy to do it. sweat.gif
is it big possible all seagate Barracuda 7.11, FW:SD15, 1.5TB/1TB/500GB will cause this problem?

the failure rates of the 500GB/1TB drives with the mentioned firmware serves as a global warning to all existing users knowing that their HDDs are ticking time bombs. So it doesn't matter, the possibility is there, no matter big or not, its better to backup data now and don't regret for not doing so later.

Not downtime. I think the SD1A got problem, so to prevent furhter damage, they take it offline b4 more Seagate users nuke their HDD.

the symptom of this hdd is where.... When you boot up normally.. it;s ok... but sometimes i restart my comp... then... Takes ages to detect the hdd.... and for Fastest way to cure that is to open the dam case and switch the sata ports... from 1-2.. or 2-3... or 3-4 (who cares, i have 5 ports ~_~) and then it will detect the HDD, Till your Next restart (Mostly for my case)

Checked with the drive detect.. and it's SD15... NOOOO!!! Typing the E-mail for Segate at this point of time.. hopefully something can be arranged... sleep.gif"
